Buy a Mr. Coffee 12-cup coffeemaker, a small coffee grinder, and a bag of Eight O'Clock 100% Colombian beans.
Grind the beans until they're slightly finer than cornmeal or breadcrumbs. You don't want too fine a grind for American style.
Use a heaping teaspoon or coffee measure for each cup, plus one extra "for the pot." Place the coffee in a paper filter in the brew basket.
Fill the coffeemaker reservoir with cold water (1 cup per scoop, not counting that extra one). Use water from a Brita pitcher or other method that removes off tastes like chlorine. Tap water makes lousy coffee.
Brew the coffee. When it finishes, immediately put it into a thermal carafe or pump pot so it doesn't "cook". Serve with either 2% milk, whole milk, half-and-half, or light cream. Each one is richer than the previous. Regular table sugar is good for sweetening if you like. Good coffee can be taken black, too.
The best authentic "American" style coffee is from Dunkin' Donuts. Starbucks' roast is darker, and hence more European.

If what you mean is Cafe Americano, ala Starbucks, you have to have a pressure machine, and you would use about 3 tablespoons for a twelve-oz cup. For plain old American-style drip-style coffee,
use 1 tablespoon per cup measure of the coffeemaker.

actually, you need to easily test with flavors. Use stable manufacturers of coffee, chocolate blend, and so on., and only blend flavors at the same time. you need to do this and function a tasting occasion and individuals can enable you to already know what works and what does not.

For a twelve up pot of coffee, I put in 5 - 6 tablespoons of ground coffee. If you like it stronger, put it more. Weaker, less amount.
