1 serving of cashews (or most nuts) is around 160 calories .. primarily fat - (about 3 fat servings)
The fat IS good fat and there is good fiber and B vitamins in nuts BUT be vary aware of HOW MUCH you eat , the calories will add up quickly before you know it .
I usually have my clients add 1/2 a serving a day into their food plan as a nice little crunchy, fatty treat because the fiber and the fat in them will make you feel fuller than, say a bag of pretzels at 110 calories with virtually no redeming nutritional value
Other tasty, healthy snacks would be things like -
-1 oz of cheese and fruit,
-Trail mix (1/2 serving nuts w/ a few tbs of dried fruit)
- 1/2 bagle w/ 1 oz cheese
- 2 hard boiled eggs

Cashews are a great healthy snack because they help raise your good cholesterol. Salt in moderation is okay, but I would go easy on it. It can raise blood pressure and, especially for women, cause bloating. I found that the best healthy snacks, at least for me, are fresh friut and veggies. You can dip veggies in fat free ranch dressing and dip the fruit in low fat yogurt of your choice. My sons also love these treats.

If you want nuts an small handful of unsalted, unroasted almonds or walnuts are your best bet. Other healthy, filling snacks would be fruit - an apple or banana with a little bit of peanut butter on it, Whole wheat crackers with fat free cheese, Popcorn - unsalted and unbuttered (about 3 cups). Your snack shouldn't be more than 200 calories.

According to latest papers in medscape, walnuts are good for the heart ie. for prevention of heart disease. Cashews are a high calorie food. Any salted nuts are not good - too much Na++.

Salted cashews are not as healthy as other nuts due to higher fat and carb content. Try salted pecans, walnuts, etc. Not peanuts as well. The best for you are salted, roasted soyanuts.

Cashews, especially salted, are not a healthy snack.
Nuts in small amounts such as walnuts and almonds, unsalted, are.
There is too much fat in cashews.
