My little chihawhaha ( sorry can't spell it) My little Taco bell dog some how got his foot shut in the gate to the yard, and broke all 4 of the tiny bones on the top of his foot. He has to have surgery now and have pins but in to heal the bones. My question is Is there Vitiams I can give him to help the healing? The Vet said it will take a long time for him to heal up and if he doesn't heal right he will loose the use of his foot. Any Vitiams anyone?

My dog is at the Vet right now and has been seening the vet since it happened. He is getting a splint put on today so he can get thru the weekend so my Vet can get the tiny tiny pins he needs for the bones. I have talk to my vet about everything. I am just trying to find what vitiam or supplememnt would help his healing. I already have him on Vit E it promotes red blood cell growth but he can't start until AFTER the surgery. Thank you

Calcium & vitamin D MIGHT help or go with a general pet tab, but the REALLY important thing is: FOLLOW YOUR VETS INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. if he says crate rest except for leash walked potty breaks do it. If he says cast change at 3 weeks - do it....

What you need to do is to seek and take the advice of your vet. He/she knows what is best for your dog in this situation.

Folks on here may want to help, but the vast majority of them don't have the education and credentials to be telling you what to be giving to your pet in this situation.

I know it hurts to see your dog injured and suffering, but as with everything in nature, only time will heal him. Please be patient and follow your vets instructions. That is the best thing you can do for your loved pet is to follow all the vets instructions and give him a lot of love and attention in this time of need.

Hope this helps.

These are great supplements> http://springtimeinc.com/product/94/2
It comes in powder form as well..
Of course, these would need to be broken up into smaller peices for a Chihuahua...The company is very reliiable, and ships super fast..

You may want to ask the vet about glucosine/chondoitin, it helps decrease joint pain, and improves joint movement.
