I'm looking to find if the previous owner's of my house were murdered inside the house. Is there a website to search old newspaper articles or land records to find out who lived here before me or how they died?

There are real organizations that can verify if your house is haunted. However, a Catholic priest told me once that you need to acknowledge the entity and then just ignore it. The more you acknowledge it the more you give it life. Please pray for this soul or souls. Get the house blessed and please pray in order for this soul to go towards the light.
There can be another reason why this soul has not left besides the fact they were murdered. ( It is the most terrible thing that can happen to a person) may-be they are trying to communicate with you for some reason.

Hauntings are a myth that can't be proven.
Past owners of your home can be found by (1) going to the courthouse to look through the Recorder of Deeds office and then (2) matching those names up with murder victims for your town
I think you've just been watching too much TV and your imagination has gotten the better of you.

DONT use a ouija board. My mom invited a ghost into our house with one of them things. You could probably go to you local library to find old newspaper articles. Ask the elders in your town. I didnt find out that the house I used to live in was one of the oldest buildings in the town until I heard it from an elderly gentleman who came into my workplace.

Call TAPS ghost hunters, Atlanta Paranormal society, you know Jason and Grant from the Sci-Fi Channel. They can help they will ghost hunt for free, and possibly even look up info on your house. If you don't want to do that then go to your local library and they will have the info on the house you live on. Good luck.

as far as land records go check with city hall.
for crimes commited at a certain address: check with the local police department and ask for a premis report it is my understanding that this would be a "calls for service report" from any given address, how far that would go back I do no know if that doesnt give you any answers you can check here: http://userdb.rootsweb.com/news/
