I am a Democrat, but we need to give all illegals the boot. They don't deserve to be here, they don't deserve any of the money we give them, and therefore they need to be deported. We also need to build the wall. But I think it should be an electric fence with armed guards to protect against circumvention. I also think there should be some sort of penalty for those that have successfully crossed illegaly, in addition to deportation.
Hmm. . . Something's strange about this picture. The Republican wants the illegals to stay and the Democrat wants them out.
My punishment is not aimed at targeting wrongdoers, but rather helping them contribute to our society in compensation for crimes they have committed. And of course, we can't send them all home at once. We're not expecting to catch them all at the exact same instant. They will be gradually caught, just as the jobs they stole will be gradually filled by those who deserve them.
If you don't want to speak our language, than you can get out.

Independant. I don't support a guest worker program or amnisty. Build our fence and send them all back. Then you can put some of these people on welfare and unemployment to work at what jobs they were holding. If they are maried to an American then tough luck. The american, if they trully love them will go with them or wait for them while the paper work is done. It is not americas fault they married a criminal. Yes that is what they are. They are breaking our laws. Also anyone who becomes a citizen and has been here illegaly before should not have the right to own fire arms, Vote in public held elections, or anything else a felon can't do. If they commited Identity theft while they were here illegaly then they should not be allowed to come here legaly. Most illegal immigrants who come here do comit identity theft. That is the only way an employer can hire them while still covering their own asses. Any company that assists an illegal immigrant knowingly should be held accountable. The buisness should be taken from the owner and given to the prison system. Have the inmates work these buisnesses. That will help keep us with cheap labor and also will make jail be a punishment instead of a free vacation. These inmates would be paid nothing unless they have children. If they have children then they will be paid minimum wage for a 40 hour week even though they will be working 84 hours per week. That equals out to 12 hours a day 7 days a week. This would improve our economy so much that we wouldn't need illegal labor.

Republican, and yes I support a guest worker program legalization for those illegals that have u.s. families here in the states and already have forms to become legal in process with immigration.
There are many men and women who are illegal and married to a U.S. Citizen. They already have paperwork pending with USCIS and are just waiting for the interview date so they can complete the rest of the process. I think those with these circumstances should be allowed to remain in the u.s. and pay a fine instead of having to leave the country for a period of a year or more and be torn from their spouses and children. It is not possible for the spouse to live abroad while the process is being completed either. Doing so would be devastating to their case and they would not be approved so that is not an option. Family unity should be important enough not to rip families apart and have children suffer without one parent for long periods of time.
For those who think that all illegal aliens use fake ssn and steal identities, you are wrong. There are many that don't have any of that stuff, have never been arrested here in the u.s., and yes they pay their taxes with an itin number into our system and don't see a penny of it back. Yes they broke the law by crossing illegally but they should be fined for that and allowed to stay with their families.

Republican, No i don't support a guest worker program but I do support legalization of ALOT of immigrants.
My reason: We need full scale reform of how immigrants become legal citizens. The path to citizenship is very hard and very expensive.. if we don't make it more acessible to them, they have little incentive to become legal members of our society. Guest worker programs allow immigrants a way into the country and then they never leave.

Dem:
Guest worker program is necessary to avoid catastrophic disruption to our economy if they are "all sent home"
Legalization is one way to ensure that there isn't a disruption in
the labor markets, but not the only solution.
Moral arguments about the legality of the immigrants don't matter
much to me. If our country benefits from them being here, work
out the details. The system has functioned outside the law for
so long that current practice has replaced the law. I'm not willing
to suffer the disruption just so some people can claim things are
more fair. It seems to me that the people who want to punish the
illegals are mostly just using it as an excuse for racism.

Neither.
No. Because they are here illegally. They should be sent back to where they came from and get citizenship legally. A guest worker program would be inherintly unfair to all those people who are trying to get citizenship legally.

Independent. Yes I do support a guest worker program. We need to account for everyone who is here- this is a national security issue. After thorough background checks we'd be able to separate those who have come here for economic reasons and those who would like to cause us harm either by terrorism or criminal activities.

Republican - NO, there are people all over the world playing by the rules trying to immigrate.
There is really no point in this discussion until you stop people from coming in. Then you can consider what to do about the ones here.

Generally republican and my concern is total numbers so I see no way to have both of those.
Mass immigration of poor people has ruined schools and is ruining health care. Their better life is at our expense.
