If they are getting married at JOP, then the gift should be a casual gift but something with meaning. I wouldn't go and buy them a silver picture frame that cost more than their wedding, but something personal, something that will be a memory of that day. maybe a photo album (you can find some nice ones at bed bath and beyond)

regrettably definite, thats the Catholic teachings. Catholizm promotes non secular disciplin and bringing human beings in course of God, no longer forcing an Atheist to change into Christian as such. Your husband can change right into a Bhuddist or Hindu, see you later as he believes in God and that there is a God. consequently in the eyes of the Lord you and your husband are literally not called a blessed united couple, in difficulty-free words by technique of regulation you're ensuing, that receiving the Blessed Sacrament is consequently forbidden.

I'm loving the idea of the free babysitting weekend! What a wonderful idea! Then the couple can go away for a honeymoon and not worry about the baby! I vote for that!!

What sort of budget are you on?
Given their age and they've been living together for so long, chances are they aren't in a newly wed pinch where they own nothing...so household good are a little unnecessary.
I'd take them out for a nice meal with you and your husband...or offer to watch the baby and send them out on their own.
If you're very close with them, maybe you could make them sort of keepsake album of their relationship and family throughout the time you've known them.

Standing up for them? At 57, I would hope he could stand up for himself.
A gift? Check their registry or give them cash/a gift certificate. (That's what I wanted when I got married)

Take them out to a nice lunch/dinner after the wedding. It will be a nice gesture, considering they probably have everything they need... Wait unless you are a millionaire, then give them a honeymoon in Maui.. Tell your friends Congrats and good luck... Oh don't forget to bring her something: Old, New, Borrowed, Blue. It will really help make the day special. :-)

get them something that they will cherish. if they just want something off a registry, then i guess go for that, but you could always get them a silver serving platter with their names and the wedding date engraved (just an example). something that is traditional but is timeless is always good, and don't forget to include the baby!

are they registered anywere? If so, just get something from their list . .
if not, you could always get a gift certificate to Amazon, or some other store . . .
