I would talk to your doctor about trying to wean you off slowly. If you are in need of an antidepressant, there are several out there that are not addictive. If you are using Xanax as a recreational drug, and you don't want to tell your doctor, then try Narcotics Anonymous or any other drug related help group in your area.

What you are doing is self medicating. Xanax is a wonder drug but the dosage that you take are way too much. First find the reason you feel aniety, then try to find a doctor who can precribe something ( maybe anti- depressents- Paxil cr37.5 is a good one.next have him put you on a low dose of 0.5 mg to take 3-4 times a day. and you may need ambien ,a sleeping pill. the fact of the matter is you probaly are getting your meds illiegal. When you go to the doctor don't tell him anything about you past abuse theywill not even give you aspirn then. Good luck from a former Xanax abuser to a regular prescibed taker.

I agree. Detox then rehab. You HAVE to be medically detoxed off those. If you stop suddenly, you may have a seizure.
I wouldn't think of trying to tough it out at home. No way. Bad idea.

Your asking in the section for help were there are other people that may be more messed up then you for help.
How dose that work. I mean some of them in here have been saying they are going to kill them self's.Maybe you should go to the health section and ask that question again.
chances are you will get a better answer.

I weaned myself off of it. Xanax is tough but you can do it. Just expect anxiety through the process. After I got off it I felt much better.

Inpatient detox program. Go to one for an assessment. You won't have to stay there long, but it will be safer. Good luck.

after taking certain medications your body get immune to them, so you may just need to change your medication , something that will work. I think your body has just gotten use to xanax. so you will feel better if you discuss this with your doctor and have him prescribe something else for you

why hell? They help me and I have been on them for over 3 years. Have your doctor weene you, or if you are getting them off the streets , then yeah, you will have to admit you have a problem.
