IP Relay VRS makes it possible for persons with a hearing and/or speech disability to reach beyond the limitations of older Text Telephone (TTY) technology and communicate with hearing telephone users in real time. IP Relay conversations move at faster speeds and with increased communication quality. The visual component also enables users to express emotions, facial expressions and gestures that enhance the overall conversation.

http://www.i711.com is an example of an internet relay service that I use. Just google "internet relay service", several sites will come up such as sprint, att. I've stopped using my TTY ages ago! I much prefer the internet, it has so much more features. TTY is becoming outdated these days.

AOL Internet messaging also uses relay service. We can get relay phone calls via AIM on our mobile phones.
