Take a good book or DVD collection with you! The penguins are awesome, but once you've seen them you can pretty much tick them off. The rest depends on where you are - a few hotels, bars etc in Stanley, quite a bit at Mount Pleasant, but otherwise you'll need to take your own entertainment. Things you must take are a waterproof, some warm clothes and some really strong suncream (no ozone down there). A filter for your camera is also recommended as the light down there is really strong (can't remember which type though). A good place to save money!

You can expect temperatures of around 15c at present but warming up over the next few weeks as summer is fast approaching. Lots of wind be prepared to wrap up even in summer. It has beautiful scenery but in places you must go with a guide as there are still mines left as a result of the conflict in '82. It isn't the end of the world and the people there are friendly and have social lives and yes, cinemas, restaurants, pubs etc.
