Most veterinary boarding kennels do not have the supervised play time that privately owned kennels do..Call around, and check out every boarding kennel..Spend a little time there, and see how well they are supervised, and how the dogs seem to enjoy it..Ask for references, and check them out..Ask how many of the clients are repeat customers..
Many of them now have web cams, so youu can check in on them online at any time..
there are several toy poodles at the facility where I work part time, and all are well adjusted and having fun after a couple of days..

Most boarding kennels take really good care of the dogs. You can go out to the kennels ahead of time, talk to the staff, find out how many walks a day the dog gets, etc., and choose the one you feel most comfortable with. Ask for recommendations from people you know who have boarded their dogs, too. If the dogs didn't do well in a kennel, they'd go out of business, don't worry - your dog will do fine.

We've boarded our EXTREMELY nervous pom before and she was fine just let the place know that he's not used to being around other animals. Also make sure he's up to date on ALL his shots. Things get passed around very easily in that enviroment especially "kennel cough" (bordatella).

Why what did the poodle do to you to board the poor thing, sounds like you are going to hit him with a stick.

Most boarding facilities are good places. I would use your vet's facilities. Boarding facilites sometimes do not have the necessary medical staff to handle emergencys or special cases. Trust your vet!!!!!

It depends how long you are going to board and what the boarding place is like.

I would have him either stay with some trusted friends that are familiar with the dog so its not too scared when you leave it, or just have somebody come and check on him every few days.

i never bored my pet's and i have two taco dog's that are not friendly with anyone they don't know, i always have my son or someone that they know take care of them or take them with me .. would you want a stranger taking care of your child . . think about it . they might be abused and frightened . and cause them to have mental problums when they return home . you never know what is done to your pet when you are not there. usally the only time i let anyone care for my pet is when i have no other choice . then when they come home . they cling to me . and won't get out ofd my sight .

Poor little guy - it would be much easier on him if you could find someone who would keep him for you, someone he knows and who will give him lots of cuddles and reassurance. Either way, make sure you send something with him that smells like home and like you, that will ease some of his anxiousness.

It's a toy...why would you have to do anything with it? Just leave it at home alone.
