This person is committing a serious infraction. And it may be a criminal offense as well. Especially if the prisoner is female and the guard is male.
As a prisoner, you have NO friends. You only have different degrees of enemies. Which means everyone is an enemy to the prisoner.
The reason prisons have such strict rules regarding this behavior is for the safety of everyone involved. Prisoners have had to learn to survive in what quite simply amounts to survival of the fittest. Prisoners will attempt to manipulate guards (and they are really good at it, a good many prisoners have anti-social personality disorder) and once they have the guard "hooked" they will start black mailing them. They will threaten their families, (they have people on the outside) and they will have the guard break the law to pony in drugs and other contraban. So you see the problem.
Now, for the GUARD that is manipulating the prisoner. Women are very likely to be put in a compromising sexual position if there are male guards. And it is not at all unheard of that guards have their own little pimp action going on with the women. Women have been forced to work, or coerced, into prostitution by guards who see them as less than human. Female prisoners also are raped by guards who take advantage of the situation. Female prisoners have also been known to become pregnant while incarcerated.
Since you did not state the sex of either I elaborated a bit on both. But either way it is a big problem and you have right to be concerned. Your family member may well be into the black-mailing stage of the game, where they CAN'T get out. Often the ONLY way out is to quit their job and even then there is the threat to family members if they do, or even to themselves.
I would strongly advise the person to talk to the warden if they are the guard. If they are the prisoner, then they need to meet with their lawyer, but quite frankly, they are in harms way and place themselves even more in jeopardy if they "rat" on someone.
Peace.

That person they are dating could be kind loving person. Some of history's greatest and most caring did prison time, or were threatened with.
It depends on what they did. If it was crazy bad, talk to the family member stressing the values you know they hold and letting them see the incongruity's. Let them know you love them and respect them but that you thought they might need an outside look at this relationship.

Don't do anything to report the person. They already know they aren't supposed to be dating the inmate. Eventually they will be caught anyway and having dated the inmate the deed is already done. In all probability the inmate will report the person if they quit dating them. I would certainly hate to be in the shoes of your relative. If you have talked to the relative and they persist in dating the inmate, nothing you do will stop them until they are caught. The relative will almost surely lose their job.

Get out of this relationship at once, no good will come of this. Your family member is more important and you should be loyal to them. I am just curious how can you be dating an inmate, where do you go? Get a man on the outside who can wine and dine you

You need to report this as soon as possible to your family member's superior. The family member will probably be fired or at least severely reprimanded, but I think that that is ultimately in the best interest of all parties involved. Good luck.

this person you know is risking her/his life and career. You should have a word with them and make it clear that your not happy with the situation that they have put themselves in. All you can do really is advise and be there for them when things go wrong. If the prison service found out then your friend would be punished in one way or another. Hope they come to there senses before this happens. xx

Write to the Governor of the prison with all you know. Ask for your name to be kept out of it ( you could even write a false name) it will be internally investigated. Your relative is putting themselves in danger. Act quickly.

Is it your life? Why do people judge others for the decisions they make? Let them make their own decision. It is NONE of your business who they are dating, even if it is an inmate.

Join the chain gang bang.
where do they go on their 'dates'? Do they take moonlit strolls in the yard?
-----
actually, seriously. Just talk to your family member about it. Explain your concern. Then mind your business. There is nothing more you can, nor should do.
