The under lying answer of stinky poop does not lay in the litter. Litter only helps cover the odors, and litter additives just do the same. The answer lies within the food. I could go into so many details but i'll spare you and my fingers, and give you the short. Alot of cat foods contain Corn ingredients (corn meal, corn gluetin, corn this & that ) The corn ingredients have a tendacy to work against a cats internal system, therefore producing smelly poops. In the wild, corn is not on the cats diet list. Maxxcat foods carry non to very low levels of the corn gluetin. Foods w/out it are the best way to go personally. Here's a list of some foods i know of from the shelter that are good for cats.
Innova Cat food. There's also a brand that ive heard rave reviews on, Flint River Ranch. Its all natural and excellent for all pets. There's TONS more, but just check the ingrediants on the bags of food, if Corn anything is 1-3 on the list, you know its high content with corn.
Okay this ended up being too long, sorry!
Hope i was of some help.

A more expensive kitty litter might help also feeding the cat less can food and more dry food will help. The harder the poop the less the smell. If you are feeding can food only you are causing the cat to have more loose stools and they are smellier. Even in the dry food some that is not as well balanced for the nutrition will cause more smells. Also stop feeding it table scraps. It will be healthier for your cat's weight and also help reduce the emanation he/she makes! But keep in mind poop is poop and it does have a smell and cats do also get gas and those can also smell! Sorry only a fact of life. Some people are over sensitive to litter odors also which could just be your case. Try moving the litter to a more secluded area and getting one with a top on it with a charcoal filter which will help reduce the smells!

Cat poo really does smell and I know nothing to make it better smelling. Every time one of my two cats poo I go right up to the litter box and scoop it out in a plastic bag and carry it outside to the trash. Cat poo is just a strong smelling poo! Maybe you could put a small fan near their litter box to keep the smell down whenever they go.

Do you have a kitty litter box with a lid and charcoal filter? That helps. Also, try different foods. Poo always smells, but you can tinker with the food to help reduce the smell. I've also found that the more healthy brands, like Iams or Wysong, helps with smell.

You're probably just stuck smelling cat poo. However, I do think some brands aren't as bad as others. We were using Purina cat chow then switched to something else (not sure what kind...whatever Sams had that day we went). Ever since the poo smell gags me. Purina wasn't as bad but it still stunk.

YUCCA is the ingredient to help odor control - cat poops shouldnt have a bad smell.. however most people feed their pets low quality food (all food from grocery or wal mart is low quality (too much filler not enough nutrition + high in fat... the low nutrition means they need to eat more so eat more filler which is hard to digest.. and fat which is hard on their tummies - this combination means the poops smell bad...) filler is things like corn and by-products which low quality foods use, cats are true carnivours, corn isnt very digestable...
better foods DO NOT contain ANY corn or by-products (beaks feet feathers) and are only sold in pet supply stores but not alll foods they sell are good - check the ingredient list... look for one with REAL MEAT first... eg Chicken MEAL, Turkey MEAL, lamb MEAL.. no fish...
a cat wont need to eat as much if on good food - so also will poop less
dont feed fish or milk - this also makes smelly poops
use non-scented clumping with baking soda OR the silicone chip which is excellent for odor control...

It is not only their poo that stinks but their urine, cat's have the best food to give them is the dry cat food, the worst for the smell is fish food, tender viddles is a good brand, diligent cleaning of the litter box, daily especially if you have more than one cat, helps, use baking soda or buy cat litter with baking soda in it. Good luck.

There is something from Arm and Hammer that is for the litterbox, it makes it and the poo smell fresh as a daisy.
maybe try moving the box to the basement so you won't be able to smell it (provided you have a basement) or into the bathroom, where everyone else poos?

Feed them high quility cat food. Avoid cheap cat food like the plague. Pets will poop less if they eat good food. We used to feed my dog Mighty Dog dogfood and he got terrible gas and pooped a lot. But that stopped when we started feeding him high quality dog food. Also try to switch from wet cat food to dry. And buy cat litter that absorbs odors. Hope this helps!
