After I ordered my wedding dress, my fiance and I decided that we were going to have a destination wedding for just the two of us. We want to do something cheap and not have a big package, but here's the problem. My wedding dress ties in the back. It's a lace up dress so I need someone to help me get dressed and I don't have the money to buy another one. What should I do???

As for you jasmintrees, I'm not cheap. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you didn't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?

Honey, relax and take a deep breath.

For a destination wedding, there will be SOMEONE there to help you. It doesn't have to be your Mom or your best friend, but there will be someone. Usually this person is the wedding coordinator or the coordinator's assistant at the resort.

And NO!!!!!!!! -- you are not cheap for not wanting to buy another one. First of all, I am sure that you bought this dress because it is perfect for you and for what you want to look like on your wedding day.

Enjoy yourself and remember that if you were married in a paper bag, it would still be beautiful -- it's your wedding day!!!

Dont listen to the negative people (and sex-crazed idiots).
The girls telling you that your destination will likely have staff available are 100% correct. Most places that specialize in destination weddings are prepared for any little thing the happy couple might have forgotten. This includes helpful staff members. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of a stranger helping lace you up have a best friend or family member come along (most destination weddings do have a couple of people from the couples life as guests or witnesses).
I suggest calling (or emailing if you can find an email address) the destination where you want to have your wedding. They should answer any questions you have.... if they dont I suggest finding another destination or location at that destination. You need the help when it comes to destination weddings.

Congrats and Good Luck

Sweet heart...ignore the snippy rude people. They must be on this part of the site because they are miserable and single! Don't worry, someone from the hotel should be available to help you get into your dress. Even if you have to ask some random stranger from the hotel, it's better than purchasing another dress when you have obviously found one you love. Besides, getting out of the dress won't be a problem at all :) lol Good Luck and Congratulations !

I'm sure someone at the hotel can help you. Give them a call.....its not a weird request.

I can understand you not wanting him to help you. Also, I don't blame you for not wanting to spend the money on another dress, not to mention the fact that it was the dress you found that you want to get married in!!

Good luck and I hope you have a great destination wedding!!

Yeah, just ignore jasmine.

ANYway, CONGRATULATIONS! As others have stated, with these destination packages, there will no doubt be hotel or program staff there to assist the two of you to make your day truly beautiful and special. Perhaps you can call ahead or ask the person who is booking the event for you that assistance with your dress will be required and that you need them to account for that in the planning of the ceremony.

As for being "cheap"... let me tell you, kudos to you for not trying to take out a $30K loan to impress a bunch of people who, if they're coming to your wedding, already love the two of you for who you are in the first place. It makes me so sad to hear of young couples who START their married life together with over $30K debt all because they had to have a big wedding to impress a bunch of people.

My husband and I kept it simple, and came out with money to spare. I wouldn't have changed a thing for the world... best wished to you both. Have a fabulous time.

Is the point of this to have him not see you in the gown before the ceremony?

Call the hotel you are staying in, in advance-- they may know a nearby seamstress or female tailor in the area (many hotels have relationships with nearby drycleaners that have in-house seamstresses) that may be able to send an assistant to the hotel to help you get dressed. There will be a fee, but it shouldn't be big. Then be sure to tip the helper and the concierge.

Hi I am a seamstress try to find out if there is someone maybe the cleaners have a seamstress on the premises. if possible they can put a invisible zipper on the side so it will look as if you laced it up yourself. Great going not only are you saving a lot of money it will be something you and your future husband will enjoy and remember for a lifetime. CONGRADULATIONS!

If it's a destination wedding, I'm sure if you talked to the concierge about needing help on a certain day and time, they're more than willing to help. After all, you're paying for it, sweetie! It's part of the service they pride themselves on.

Have a blast and love every minute of it. :)

If you are staying at a hotel then just simply ask the front desk if they have a female that could help you out, I am sure they would be happy to help you out. My wife and I were married on the beach in Cancun and the hotel staff was very helpful.

Hotels have people for this very purpose. IF they don't, they can help you find someone. Is your Officiant a man? Maybe his wife can help you. It's good that you have thought of this, but just tell the people involved in your wedding of this problem. They will help you solve it.
