I heard about a recyling machine that works like a washer. You put in trash, waste water spin for awhile and the heavy stuff goes to the bottom, the light to the top. The trash company can then recycle the metal and other stuff. Is there somewhere I can read more about it?

The process I found most about searching the Internet was the froth flotation process (widely used in the minerals industry). Froth flotation uses differences in density and surface properties, which, together with chemical additives, affect the way air bubbles stick to the plastics in the separator and rise into the froth layer where they are skimmed off.

There is such a machine used in the metal recycling business. Aluminum comes to the top heavier metals go to the bottom. Try google on metal recycling.
