A few months ago, a friend pointed out to me that I am a flirt. While discussing it with my cousins, my MALE cousin said "Yea, your an equal oppurtunity flirt, you flirt with eeeveryone." my FEMALE cousin said "No, I think you are just being nice."
So, what, in our opinion, is the difference? Does flirting involve more touching? More smiling? or is the line too thin to define?

Some men/women can misinterpret a person being nice as flirting because they just do not know the difference. I have to say more men than women don't get this.
Being nice is being polite.
Flirting is being playful. Touching may or may not be involved, but there is an air of sexual tension.

If they are being:
1) Open
2) Honest
3) Smile alot
4) Making Eye Contact
5) Asking Questions about you
6) Using Innocent Touch
Then they are most likely flirting :)
Hope this helps :)

Yes flirting does involve more touching, smiling, lots of eye contact, maybe a bit of hitting (slight taps on the arm )
It is a very thing line however.
Just keep in mind many guys will mistake kindness for flirting,
most of the time we will think you like us and eventually try to make a move.

It all depends on the meaning behind it. To be flirting with someone you must be attracted to something about them. With flirting there is more of a sexual vibe behind it. Flirting doesn't always have to involve touching but you can tell by someones eyes if they are flirting or not.

A flirt is a mild tease. A tease likes getting guys sexually aroused then dropping them. So do you enjoy getting guys hot and frustrating them, or is it the very last thing from your mind when you interact with them?
If it's the former, you're a flirt. If it's the latter you're nice, but be careful - you could be sending the signals you like a guy, even when you don't.

Yes there is a thin line between flirting and being nice. if you flirt there is like moore touching or rubbing up against someone. being nice is nothing more than a friendship.

It all depends on who you are talking too, people interpet things differently. someone might take your friendliness for "flirting"because they may be interested in you, when you in fact aren't feeling that way toward them.. or..others may be interested in the person you are being friendly to, and a little jealousy may make them think that your actions look like flirting.. guess to me.. real flirting is when your body language is obvious, etc.. smiling, touching..teasing remarks... Also lets face it some people Do flirt all the time!

I think that flirting depends on your motives! I mean people say that I am "flirting" when really I am not, I am also just being friendly. I treat everyone the same! When I do actually flirt with someone they know!

I don't think there is a thin like at all. Flirting has a lot of laughing, touching, innuendos while nice is just well...nice.
