Just pretend.
I know its hard for you all to think in hypotheticals, but give it a shot.
If God/Jesus came to you today and told you that you had to sacrifice(kill) your child/children, to prove you love for him, would you?
I understand that this is a tough question. I am not asking to be mean. I just want to understand how deep your faith really goes.

Amazing, I know what the Bible says. I wanted to know what YOU personally would do. Can you people think in hypotheticals? You believew in somehting that cant be proven but yet, you can answer a question with an opinion of your own?

AMDG, actually, you are wrong. The 5th commandment is "Honor thy mother and father" So, by refusing to sacrifice your child, you are breaking that commandment. God created you, He is your "parent", so to speak. I think you are talking about the 6th commandmant, "Thou shalt not kill", well, your wrong there too. God, himself, broke that commandment many times in the history of the Bible. So, if he can do it but make a law that says you cant. That dosent make sense.

Love Shepard: Thats the problem. Christians sit and preach the "love everyone" and I am so faithful to God. They shouldnt have a problem answering this question. If their faith is that strong, whats the problem?
Christians dont want to face this type of question. Because your belif\efs are so strong and, based on past experience, God has done this before, whats to keep him from doing it again? Christians dont want to face something that would make them go against theri religion

To most of you:
Why wouldnt God ask you do to that? He has done it before. I know it was the OT, and those thig\ngs in the OT are null and void. But this was a HYPOTHETICAL question. I didnt ask if God would do it. I asked what you would do if he asked.
And you all say atheists are close minded. Think about it. A lot of you said you would kill your own children. Amazing. But yet you would be breaking Gods law to do so. Even if he asked you to do it, it would still be breaking a commandment.

God would NEVER ask me to do anything that went against His word, and since asking me to kill my child goes against the 5th commandment, I would immediately know that the one asking me to do this couldn't be God.

If God came to me I would assume I was having a psychotic episode and would get to the emergency room. No way would I kill my child. You want hypotheticals -- If somehow you could be sure it was God, then you could also be sure your child was going to heaven. So what would be the sacrifice. You'd miss him, but he'd be there waiting for you.
And stop being such an arrogant twit. If a hypothetical question is stupid, we aren't going to answer it. It doesn't mean we can't.

I'd need some pretty convincing proof that it was God or a message from God. Seeing a vision wouldn't do it, I'd think I ate too many pickles. But if I had a sign confirmed by multiple witnesses and in conformance with God's Eternal Will, then yes, I would.

YES YES YES.. but you have to understand that in these tiems God will not ask us for such thing. The bible says that Christ was teh last sacrifice.. when it comes down to life.. but in these times.. i would sacrifice anything i have,, not in the meaning of life.. but in the meaning of.. i would put God before anything and everything that is mine.. if they get older and at some point they dont want to believ ein the word of God then i would sacrifice my love oif a mother and either teach them right or separate myself form them,.. OF course that is not the case for me at all because my childrenn will be raise with the right teaching but i wold do anyuthing for God.. anything that is gonna help me get to the kigdom..a nd because GOD is righteous.. he would never ask me to do noithing worng.

That has already happened in Bible times...but he stopped him before letting him harm the child. I know that God paid the ultimate sacrifice when he sent Jesus to the cross so we never have to sacrifice human life.

God would not require that act to prove ones love...but if He required such a acrifice of any of The Faith, for any reason, it would be His Will and would be what was to be done... Then the answer would be...Yes

I have no clue. I don't think He would do that in this day today, he would have other ways to test faith. Abraham and God though, hardcore love right there.

Sure, the book answer is yes, so we can all be like Abraham and Isaac. If I was POSITIVE it was God, I would. But my son is my whole world, so I'd have to be pretty darn POSITIVE!!!! Just being honest, I'm human you know!

i don't know whether i could kill my child to prove my love for God. (most likely i can't) i am glad that my God is not one that will ask me to do so. God knows my limitations and loves me anyway.

No because I know that God would not ask me to do that. If someone appeared to me and asked me to do that I would assume that he was the devil.
