I'm a caribbean woman first of all, and we don't really call it dredlocks back home but i know what ur talkin about. Dredlocks can be really beautiful depending on how u wear it, ur style, ur face and ur hair. some ppl really don't know how to wear it. dredlocks is best worn in the caribbean, cuz no one wears it the old way anymore there. we have the very neat and small type now. I thought of growing one but it takes a lot to maintain it in order to keep it nice, that's what most ppl don't know. but goodluck.

I think dreadlocks are a beautiful way for an african-american to keep their hair natural and not have too much maintance. They are beautiful not matter how big or small. And believe it or not, most people with dreadlocks keep them very clean, Rayknee. Big chunky "dirty-looking" locks are gorgeous toi me because of their root in Rastafarianism. They symbolize a deep committment to Jah(God). I am not a Rasta but I find beauty in all religions. Anyway, dreadlocks look great no matter what reason you have them. I definitely would prefer to see a woman with dreadlocks rather than long flowing weave. My hair is straight because my mother is Asian but my I put dreads in my 2 year old son's hair. I give props to anyone who can be so committed to the time it takes growing dreadlocks.

headlocks are nasty and ruin you hair so bad. I would never wear them and they are ugly!
