I'm a software engineer.
School isn't necessarily required, but is helpful for at least getting your foot in the door. I have a 4 year degree in Management Information Systems.

Diversified tech droid ( install, repair, maintain a variety of electrical and electronic systems ) - Good at math.
School for electronic technicians and commercial electricians apprentice program. Somehow I had an almost intuitive understanding of electricity and current flow as it was explained,
so it became easy to work with.
Got to work in many large offices, hospitals and hotel buildings.
I love being out & about instead of cooped up in an office.

I am an electrical engineer. Necessary training would include a BS in electrical engineering (~4 to 5 years, including GE & preparation). It's easier than you'd think.

right now i work for my dad...he owns a granite fabrication company...to do that you need to be hard working, Dedicated, determined, strong willed, reliable, knowledgeable of your product/service and all workings of a company...etc...very hard
But what i wanna do, is go to school for structural engineering...i want to build buildings.
There is a very slight possibility i'll end up in florida selling houses, but for that you just have to get your real estate lisence.
