I had music in two "My Music" folders. One in the C drive under Administrator and one in the C drive under my name on the desktop. I deleted the Administrator folder of music, but the Media Player still sees all that music! It also sees everything that's in the folder I kept.

I have re-started the machine, no change. This doubling up only started recently, and after that I finally worked out I had two folders of music.

How come it's still seeing music files that are not there any more? It's driving me demented! I can't go through and delete them all from the player - I tried and it says it can't find them to delete!

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

I started using Limewire at the same time as the doubling up started; not sure if that's a facet . . . .

Try updating windows media player. This might help. Also be careful downloading audio files from limewire. When you do I suggest you run a quick virus and adware scan before closing your computer

Dont hit the delete button... When you right click on a song, there should also be an option thats says Remove from List.. Thats what you need to hit..... that should fix your problem.. Also, if you like to see the words to the songs you are listening to, I found a plug in for the media player at Lyricsdir.com its in the top right corner of the website. I have had the plug in for months, it works great... hope i have helped..

Open Media Player
Click on 'Library'
Remove all the songs from the library.
If there is any option that asks "Do you want to remove the files from your computer?" CLICK NO

Then, click on 'Tools'
click on 'Options'
click on the tab called 'Library'
Then click on the button called 'Monitor Folders'
Then if the previous folders are listed 'REMOVE' them and ADD them again.
That should solve your problem with media player.
In Limewire, there should be something similar.

I think that Media Player is showing al list of music that you have previously played and when you try to delete it it cant because you already have.

You need to try and clear the history list but I dont know how you do that.

Were you not a user of an illegal music trading program, I might help. But no. Can't condone the use of such programs, I'm afraid.
