The antibiotic kills off everything, good and bad. That can seriously throw off your digestive system, which depends on the good bacteria, and it can take a long time to get it stable again.

Any time you take an antibiotic, you should also take a good probiotic (at least 2 hours after you take the antibiotic). Yogurt is good, but the bacteria aren't as likely to survive your stomach acid and get down where you need them.

Digestive Advantage is a brand a lot of people like, found in most drugstores for about $10. Other good brands are Culturelle (better but more $$), Trader Joes, Acidophilus Pearls - be sure to get one with at least several billion units. The best are the refrigerated ones at a health store, but they can be expensive.

If you still have stomach troubles, stop by the IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) message board at WebMD - there are a lot of knowledgeable people who can give you great advice:

well if the pains stay after taking the antibiotics than yes it is but if you dont treat the infection there is a chance it will get worse and gang green would set in and that would not be good at all.

Same thing happens to me when I take an antibiotic. It's pretty common. Try eating a cup of yogurt every day. That will help.
