Yes, it is normal, my husband was a dentist, the baby tooth has no roots to hold on with and will come out on its own.

if i understand you correctly, his tooth permanent tooth is "comming in" but his babytooth is still firmly in place where the new tooth should be.
now im no expert but i would give it a little time but not long enough that the new tooth finnishes comming in. a dentist visit is not commonly needed i would certainly spend the small amount of money for an office visit so a Dr can take a quick look and give me a definative answer not just advice regarding this situation because if there is a problem, avoiding a problem early can cost MUCH less than repairing it later.

It is very normal, but it is something he will need to see a dentist about to prevent the new tooth from becoming deformed. I had a friend who had this happen and the other tooth didn't have room to grow in so it grew above the other tooth (looked really strange.) This usually isn't the case, usually it just comes in behind or in front crooked. A trip to the dentist now will save you many trips to the orthodontist later in life. Good luck.

It is VERY normal. Both my boys had this problem. Eventually the tooth behind the baby tooth will make it come loose, it might take until the adult tooth is almost all the way grown in. How ever this might cause your son to have crooked teeth. Some times they will straiten out on their own, but if you don't want to take that chance, make an appointment with your sons dentist. He can pull it out for you. To avoid this again, if you start to notice one coming in again, teach your son how to loosen it himself.

I would take hime to the dentist to get it checked out. This happened to me and the permanent tooth just pushed out the baby tooth , so I wouldn't be worried about it coming in already, but it did make my permanent tooth crooked causing me to get braces.

My niece had the same problem. The dentist said for her to wiggle her tooth alot to see if it would loosen and he wanted to see her again very soon (a week or two -I think) and had it not come out he was going to pull it.

You need to take him to the dentist. I had to have two baby teeth pulled by the dentist because the permanant teeth were coming in behind and pushing on the baby teeth.

it's normal, but you should take him to the dentist and have the baby tooth taken out. shouldn't be too hard. i remember the same thing happened to me when i was a kid. the dentist just put some orajel on the gum and took that hook/pick thing they use for checking cavaties and just flipped them right out.
