There are two things that I know work:
1) Cocoa butter
2) Shea butter
The shea butter not only helps with the stretch marks, but I have found that it helps better with itching.

I heard that it's hereditary. If your mom had stretch marks, more than likely, you will. It's weird because I have stretch marks on my hips and thighs from weight gain, but not on my belly from my pregnancy. My mom didn't get stretchmarks with any of us (she has 4 kids!).
Since I became pregnant, I've been using Palmer's cocoa butter, vitamin E spray itch spray. It keeps my tummy nice, smooth and soft. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that I'm not getting stretch marks, but it's worth a try.
I also heard that there's really no way you can avoid getting or getting rid of stretch marks.
Good luck!

NOTHING....they will never go away and they cannot be stopped. I had a child and I from the day i found out i was pregnant i was using Palmer's cocoa butter. I continued to use and still do uses Palmer's cocoa butter to LIGHTEN the mark they will NEVER go away...stretch marks come from the inside. Plastic is the only thing that will get rid of them...and that is not even guaranteed.

I used so many different things and I found nothing to work. I think we are just stuck with them, some of us get them worse than others. I do know that if you have dry skin, they seem to be worse, so keep your tummy well moistened and you shouldn't get them as bad. Congrats on the new baby, it's definitely a gift from above. God Bless, and good luck.
