Spread it around a few different causes. If you want to help animals, find if there are any rescue centres in your area, and donate a few hundred bucks to each - it'll go a long way.
My general feeling would be to support local charities if you can.
Don't feel you have to give the money to causes you don't believe in just because several people suggest it, though.

it is exactly enuf to buy a scooter for a handicapped person who cant get out without it and does not have a car and does not qualify for medicare and has low income. It makes my life possible that I was able to get one. I live in sub sized HUD housing apartment for over age 62. If I were unable to get the scooter Id be in ACLU and never get out and have to give up my therapy dog.
if you want to do this the agency that helped me isCaring and Sharing in St Petersburg

animals: ASPCA
You could help a child pay for an important surgery...
Childrens miracle network or make a wish foundation...
You could donate the money to your gas company and they could use it to pay the gas bill for a poor family this winter.
What do you believe strongly in? Put your money there.

Something will come to you and feel right. For me, the Amish families that are dealing with the terrible hospital bills from their daughters being shot and have been such an inspiration in courage forgiveness would be my choice.

How about a woman's abuse shelter. They always need $
for women and children who need to make a new start. These women and their children are escaping from their husband's, for abusing them. Without these places, they would have no place to go, and would have to stay in their bad relationship's. It's people like you that keep them going.

Donate it to a cancer charity. You never know when this will benefit someone you know.
