I usually donate them before that are too faded or old looking, donating very old looking clothes to a shelter or another place like that is just insulting. If the clothes still look very nice a garage sale is a good idea but donating them is better i think, dont have to sit out there and display everything you have worn and its a quicker and better way of getting rid of them.Or just toss them.

I usually donate to the poor. If torn or too worn I throw away. I have saved some to sell at a yard sale but havent gotten around to setting all that up.

It depends if I want to make any money, I usually donates them to Goodwill or a thrift store, If they are still in great condition and still the in fashion I take them to a consignment shop and then I get a protion of the price they are sold for. I also have rummage sales once in awhile to make a little profit on them.

When one donates them to good will or the salvation army those clothes are mended and cleaned and sold cheaply in outlet stores but I do not do this I donate mine to a local church who find people who need clothes and give them for free and they help out when people lose their homes to fires and floods. You dont have to belong to any church to donate but you know that your items won't be sold and money put in someone elses pockets.

Donate some to women's shelters - usually my business or professional clothing.

Some I sell at garage sells - things I don't think are appropriate to send to women's shelters like rhinestoned heels or party dresses.

The rest I donate to Goodwill.

I used to either give mine away to family/friends, but now I mostly sell them on ebay if they are in good condition. A lot of my clothes only get worn very few times, so its good to put on ebay.

I'm 25 and have lots and lots of younger cousins ... so I usually bag up all the ones I don't wear anymore and let the girls rummage through it ... they can do whatever they want with them once they're done - they can either pass them along to another friend or just throw them away ... once they're out of my hands I don't worry another minute ... !

Sometimes, I sell them at yard sales.
Sometimes, I give them to a local church. They help out needy families or those struck by disasters.

The e-bay thing is crazy to me. My sister will sell her son's old clothes on e-bay for more than she actually paid for them. Some people are nuts.

The stuff that is still wearable I donate to local shelters or the goodwill. The stuff that isn't wearable I throw away.
