I accidentally bought a bag of traditional Chex mix for a road trip. I usually make my own with a LOT more seasoning. Does anyone think it would work to whip up my usual butter/spice blend and bake them like homemade? Or would that be a bad idea. They're just too bland to eat the way they are.

Yeah, I think you could still season them to your liking and they'll be just as good, if not better.

I wouldn' twhip up your usual... it'll probably be far too salty. But do a bit of butter, adn add a good bit of pepper adn Tabasco, then give it a shot. I like the microwave recipes for Chex mix, myself. Fast and easy!

It shouldn't be a huge difference. You may find that they are over salted or that something has been used excessively if you do your own, so just make sure you don't add to much of one ingredient and not enough of another.

I don't see why adding your own seasoning blend and baking them wouldn't work.
