Internet, best resource you can have for this! I have two dogs that I take with me on a two day trip every year. I researched the hotels at our usual stops. My dog is actually bigger than yours she is 50lbs the other is 30. A lot of times you have to pay a refundable deposit on the room, and they even have a place to walk the animal. You look online for the ones in the areas you are planning on stopping at and if you must call the hotel to check their policy. You know hotels that take dogs are more common than we would think, but a lot of people travel with their pets.

Well it doesnt really matter. When I was moving to a new house that was being built, i had sold my house and had to live in a hotel for about two days until my house was done being built. Well obviously there were no dogs or cats allowed so i snuck them in. They were well behaved and didnt shed anywhere so it turned out fine. The hotel doesnt even know because of the hundred other rooms that need to be cleaned and taken care of. You just have one dog that your taking so it should be fine.

If you do a hotel search with Yahoo for the area that you are looking for, the websites for the hotel say pet freindly or not!
Sometimes there is a small fee.

Just call around to some hotels in the area and ask what their pet policy is. If they don't accept them, ask if they know any that do. They should be able to give you some good suggestions.

maximum inns will settle for pets. enable them comprehend you've small, properly-behaved, and quiet canines. Independently owned/operated inns are extra likely to be ready to make exceptions in the journey that they have got a no puppy rule. some places might want to insist on a cleansing deposit before allowing a puppy to stay.

Almost all Howard Johnson's accept pets. Most roadside motels do, too. They have to if they want to stay in business. More and more people travel with their pets every year.

go to hotels.com and search for a hotel in the area you will be traveling to, you can request a pet as one of your amenities and then let the site handle the rest, it worked for me!

I would probably call the local chambers of commerce in the cities you need to be near/in and ask them for a suggestion!
