I want a winter wedding, cream velvet cloak with fake fur lined hood. I do not want to marry in a church or in England. We will only be inviting both sets of parents.I do not like cheesy weddings or chavvy themes. We'd like something romantic and classy. Any ideas??

Going abroad will limit your choices. There are only certain venues that England will permit weddings in which to take place. You might want to get a list from them of the places they deem appropriate.

How about a posh hotel, that would be elegant. A historical site, maybe? A castle, a museum? Depends on the time of day, also. And you will need to find an Officiant that will marry you where you choose. Not all ministers will do that. Type into your search engine the city, state & wedding officiant. You should have your choice of a few. Some of us are also registered on bridal sites.

Your cloak sounds b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. I made a white velvet dress & trimmed it in fur. My flowers were attached to a fur muff I had made. My girls carried them also, rather than flowers.

Congratulations - I love the idea of a romantic wedding but get it organised properly by people who do this for a living.

If you want class, hire a premier international destination wedding coordination service like World Weddings which plans, organises and manages bridal ceremonies and wedding receptions in several different romantic locations abroad better then anyone else.

Even if you are planning a symbolic or even a civil destination wedding ceremony abroad and would like it customized to your own requirements they can do it in some of the most romantic marriage locations of the world.

They plan international weddings with onsite staff so that those who desire to marry in foreign countries will have all the necessary arrangements made for them by people who understand the local area, laws and customs.

From luxury weddings to affordable bridal ceremonies in scenic town halls and castles in Europe they work hard to fulfil every couples requirements. You just tell them exactly what you want and they suggest some alternatives.

Their goal is to find you a good spot to get married and organise a satisfactory and well planned foreign wedding ceremony abroad so that you, your fiancee and your families will be completely satisfied.

They provide venues in Africa, Asia, Middle East, Scandinavia, Eastern & Western Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands and Oceania. Their aim is to find the right destination for you to make the day of your marriage exactly what you dreamed of.

Plenty of these areas get a lot of snow in Winter - of course it doesn't matter what time of year you get married because somewhere in the world it will be winter. Your wish for a winter wonderland experience sounds lovely.

I see someone recommended the Ice Hotel which looks incredible but I'm not sure the hotel itself does weddings, still you could always ask World Weddings to try to sort it for you if that is what you would like.

Good luck - hope you have the wedding of your dreams wherever it may be and a long and happy life together.

You should keep us posted on what you choose.

Here is the site.

A Winter Wonderland Wedding..........how beautiful!!

Of course having snow would make the cloak a big hit and fit in with your dreams. Maybe a horse drawn white sleigh, taking you to a lake front or ice pond ( if you 2 ice skate, be wearing ice skates and do a nice dance together on the ice). Make it a night time wedding too. Have a generator set out by the lake that will light up white chiristmas lights that are strung over trees and bushes around the ice pond.

Have hubby to be to wear an old fashined gentalmans attire that reflects your cloak.

Had to laugh, you said classy & not chavvy and they suggest Las Vegas and Graceland...

My first thought was a Scottish castle. That place where Madonna got married - Skibo Castle or something?

I urge you to re-think about inviting only parents - there's nothing more romantic than to be surrounded by old friends who only want to be happy with you. Might not be fun having the knees-up afterwards with just the six of you. Plus, you'll get more presents!

Picture this. Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. You are driven down the Aisle in a pink caddy at the end of the Aisle the king Stands ready to do the Ceremony. After the vows are complete Elvis will sing some of his tunes for you and your new spouse to dance to. A limo comes to pick you up to take you to the airport. You fly out to Tennesse to stay in the popular Heartbreak Hotel near graceland whre you spend a wonderful honeymoon.

You might want to research to see if any castles have licences to hold weddings. I know that Studley Castle in Warwickshire does but it doesn't fit the bill being in England, although it is a relatively small castle but very nice. f you want to have a look type Firoka Group into a search engine then look for Studley Castle. I have actually visited it and stayed there. But there must be other historical buildings licenced.

how about in the country, maine, vermont, north or south dakota. surrounded by falling snow in the woods. have some candles lit around you as the preacher is marrying you. I LOVE winter weddings and congrats to you for wanting to marry.

you could also do it at a ski resort, there will always be 'falling' snow and they have some places that are beautiful in PA.

it just depends on the area you are looking to travel too. go and get some travel guides, find out when it snows, and if there is snow normal on your wedding day, i would say go for it, take a trip to a ski resort. they might give you some $$ off for doing it there.

if you do that, make sure you send them pics, so they can post on their website and bring in more customers, and always, ask for a discount, or can we get a night free, if we spend 4 days there?

hope you have a great one!!!

Get married out doors on a mountian top or open field. wear the cloak but use that as your wedding dress.. otherwise a gown under it might be over kill. But if your in europe why dont you all fly to the french alps or black forest... anywhere. you have amazingly beautiful sites and landscapes to choose from. Enjoy!

We married at the Corsewall lighthouse in Wigtownshire, Scotland and spent our wedding night at the same venue.
It was a Civil wedding with the registrar dressed up in full highland attire (kilt, etc, etc)
No matter what the weather it would be fantastic, hows that for romantic?
