they used to splatter when you cut the corners off, so they've stopped doing it now. However, they still do it with campbell soups. Which is strange, cause it's food and it stains easier, i think.

I buy tesco value apple juice and that's in the olds sort of carton where you have to cut the corner off.

You don't like opening a cap? I hated spreading open those corners in the past. Could never get the darn thing to pour neatly

Im not sure, probably because its classed as 'unhealthy' stuff... Thats why they were banned from our school... (addictives of something)...

Plus I heard carrying something sharp is an offensive weapon (including scissors :S????) so maybe that might be it...
