I have been taking Lexapro for about 2 years. It will take probably about 3-4 weeks for it to really work well and for you to notice the difference. Yes...it helps, don't stop it without help from your doctor. Every once in awhile, I still get a touch of nausea, especially if I forgot a doseage. But its mild and goes away fast. The tired part will get better. Remember, this is something new to your body and it needs to get used to it. If you want to nap, then take a nap. It will make you feel better and let your body adjust too. I can tell if I haven't taken it, you will be able to also. Good Luck !!!!

I've been on Lexapro for about 5 months. I am ALWAYS tired, but it makes me feel better mentally. I keep wanting to take myself off of it because I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. I also can never tell when I'm full after eating. That has lead to a bit of weight gain. I don't really have a sex drive anymore, either. Man, why am I on this stuff?

I found that a combination of Lexapro and Zyprexa to be great for my anxiety but I had to get off of the Zyprexa because it was causing over 20lb weight gain and Lexapro caused me to become manic. I have bipolar disorder and suffer anxiety as well.

I was on it for about 6 months, then I got switched to Celexa because it was cheaper and did the same thing. I liked being on Lexapro, it made me happy, it took about a month to fully take effect. I am not on anything now, the side effects I remember in the beginning was nausea, I didn't want to eat. I was on the lowest dose though.

My fourteen year old daughter tried this medication for a while. She was exhausted all of the time, either ravenously hungry or refusing to eat, and much more crabby then normal " for a 14 year old girl that is". I think if you can make it through the first 3-4 weeks you will come around and the side effects will diminish in time. It was just too long for us.

I am on Lexapro and it has helped me out 100%. It took two weeks for me to feel normal too. I do get tired but then I go and take a nap. Some people like it and some people don't. If you don't feel like it is helping you then you should tell your dr. My thereapist told me that it takes two weeks to get used to it and to feel a result, you might need to change meds. good luck

A friend of mine got horribly irratable during the first week of taking it, and stopped. I am not sure how long it takes for side effects to go away though.
