Nurses are permitted to keep working up until just before they are due. Not much changes for them in the workplace...they're still permitted to do their job normally, except they have to avoid heavy lifting, and have to take extra precautions with patients who have infectious diseases. As far as I know, they aren't allowed to be near some anti-cancer drugs, like the ones used in Chemotherapy.

I don't know for sure, but isn't being a nurse just like any other occupation as far as pregnancy and medical leave is concerned. If you are a nurse and you become pregnant, you would simply be a pregnant nurse. Right? Your individual co-workers may help with your workload to lighten the burden some, but I don't see how it is any different that being a pregnant school teacher.

A nurse can work her whole pregnancy as long as she is not having complications. She should not be lifting heavy patients and she needs to get off her feet a little more often. When my son was at Children's Hospital there were a lot of pregnant nurses.

I think you can work up until a certain stage. I remember when I was in hospital having my first little boy that one of the nurses was 6 months pregnant.

I just had surgery this past Tuesday. My nurse in the recovery room was pregnant and due in early January. She said she was going to work up until the last possible minute.

I have worked at hospitals and found most nurses continue to work until last minute because if anything happens they are in a place to take action. They should reduce lifting for you.

As in any job you take proper precautions and continue working. When you get close to term you take maternity leave. That's it very simple. Good luck on your chosen career and I hope you find a super man to have those babies with.
