Part of the disease is the total denial it exists in the first place. Nothing is wrong with them...it's everyone else. If you're committed to this person the best thing you can do is to help yourself deal with the "walking on egg shells" lifestyle you will lead. I'm dealing with the same issue myself! UGH.

There's not much you can do other than show them love. Unfortunately untreated bipolars usually end up in serious trouble with the law. When that happens the courts will hopefully mandate counseling as opposed to incarceration.

Try to get his family to help him. If they don't get him to see a doctor it is important. The doctor can then access how bad he feels, and suggest what form (if any) of medication he could take to help him live a normal life. I have Bipolar and have coped with it for 22yrs - with medical help.

There is not much you can do except maybe organize an intervention for the person you care about. Obviously, she needs some help and you care about the person very much. Good Luck in your endeavors.

Is he a family member? IF he is, it's easy for a family member to make the needy one to be helped.
If your affraid of him hurting himself or you just down right care of his well being, let him know how much you care, and help him go get the help he needs and be by his side while doing it.
