Research:
The causes of epilepsy are largely unknown
Unfortunately, in seven out of ten cases, doctors cannot find a specific cause. However, in some cases of epilepsy, seizures either run in families or are caused by short-term or lasting scarring or damage to the brain. Examples of things that can cause epilepsy are:
Head injury
Serious brain infections, such as meningitis
Brain tumors
Brain surgery
Stroke
Alzheimer's disease or other diseases that change the brain's structure
Any condition that keeps blood or oxygen from getting to the brain (e.g. hardening of the arteries)
Alcohol or drug abuse
Brain injury during fetal development
Trauma during birth (such as lack of oxygen).
High fever (in children)
Certain medications
The term "idiopathic epilepsies" refers to cases of epilepsy that are unknown or presumed to be an inherited genetic disorder. Idiopathic epilepsy is commonly seen in childhood. But later in life, accidental head injury and brain tumor are frequent causes of epilepsy. In elderly people, epilepsy often occurs as a result of the injury caused to the brain by a stroke.
Me:
Fumes of that nature are organic compounds which are solvents and can constitute solvent abuse if inhilation is prolonged. So it could be the cause, but get it checked by a professional with a diploma and whatnot ;)

No, Epilepsy is unfortunately hereditary I believe. I have it and my mother had it before me. I also have two nieces that did not suffer from it till they were almost 20 (They're twins) and after both getting pregnant and having their children, within a short space both of them developed epilepsy. As already stated it is to do with the brain but the fumes from next door can harm you in other ways and it is a good idea from the other person that answered to get in touch with your local Health & Safety Excecutive to get the firm checked out.

Epilepsy can be caused by brain trauma, usually though it is due to scarring in the brain from trauma. You could have seizures that are not epileptic from toxic fumes or you could get epilepsy later in life from something else. my husband is epileptic. he had his first seizure at 15 after a car accident. they thought this was the cause but when he had surgery to remove the epileptic part of his brain they found out it was due to a birth mark on his brain...

It's doubtful, but you should ask your boss/colleagues if they know whether the car paint shop has passed strict Health & Safety checks, and abides by regulations. You need to find out if these fumes ARE toxic - just because they're strong-smelling doesn't mean they're toxic.

I really don't know if it can cause epilepsy but ring your doctor for a check up and tell them that you are exposed to toxic chemicals, THUMBS UP FOR YOU

I suffer from seizures which are non epileptic because of a drug addiction i had, the constant overdose of toxins in my body caused this. You should ask your G P for more information and explain your situation to him. Toxins can cause seizures but I don't think they cause epilepsy.

It could be because what is epilepsy? It is brain cells not synapsing in your brain so your brain needs oxygen to function as we all know. Nowthat you are inhaling fumes like that more CO2 goes to your brain instead of oxygen. That cause lack of oxygen to the brain and cause seizures and fitting.

Hi Plush
Here are some remedies and answers about epilepsy.
Cause
Nutrient deficiencies, thyroid disorders, and stress can all contribute to epileptic seizures and must be screened for and addressed as part of a comprehensive treatment approach. Proper bowel movements two to three times a day are also important. If necessary, consider a bowel cleanse to restore healthy bowel function.
Pioneering holistic dentist Hal Huggins, D.D.S., has noted the improvement, and in some cases the complete disappearance of epilepsy symptoms after removing toxic dental amalgams. If you have such amalgams in your mouth, consider having them replaced by someone properly trained in Holistic Dentistry.
Natural Cures
Diet: Individuals affected by epilepsy should eat a low-fat, low-carbohydrate diet, and eliminate fried foods, salt, sugar, meat, milk, and alcohol. For long-term care, they should follow a hypoglycemic diet (see Hypoglycemia), being sure to avoid artificial sweeteners, excessive refined carbohydrates, and caffeine. For epilepsy accompanied by sluggish bowels or constipation, also ensure that the diet is rich with fibrous foods.
Emergency Techniques You Can Use When Someone Is Having A Seizure: Remain calm and move sharp objects away from the affected individual. Keep him or her from putting anything in the mouth, and loosen his or her clothing. If possible, put the person on the floor or bed and stay at the individual's side until the episode runs its course.
Herbs: For petit mal epilepsy, take one teaspoon of skullcap tincture three times a day.
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. We suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments. Please seek the advice of your alternative health care practitioner before undergoing these procedures to make sure they are appropriate for you.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. The section Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.
Juice Therapy: Drink a combination of celery, carrot, and lettuce juice three times a day.
Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can help minimize symptoms of epilepsy: L-taurine and L-tyrosine amino acids (500 mg three times daily) along with an amino acid blend (two times daily); vitamin B complex and vitamins B3 (niacin), B5, B6 and B12; calcium; choline (start with 4 g daily and increase to 10-12 g within three months); dimethyl glycine (100 mg two times daily); magnesium; manganese; and zinc. Vitamin B complex injected intramuscularly may also be helpful.
Note: Sometimes essential fatty acids aggravate symptoms, so consult with a nutritional expert to determine if this is the case.
Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating and relieving the symptoms of epilepsy: Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Biofeedback Training, Bodywork, Chiropractic, Craniosacral Therapy, Detoxification Therapy, Environmental Medicine, Holistic Dentistry, Hypnotherapy, Magnetic Field Therapy, Meditation, Mind/Body Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, Osteopathy, Reflexology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Yoga
Best of health to you.
Cheers

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tr.im/lefJ1
Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour.
Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland.
Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.
