The first question I would have to ask you is, has it been an on going thing? If so you may have a pinched nerve. Depending on whether or not you have been in any accidents lately, car related or other wise, your spine may have been moved and is now pinching the nerve. If the problem persists it might be wise to see a doctor or chiropractor.
Also, if you sleep on your side at night it can cause some pain. If this is the case then its simply time to ice it and take some muscle relaxers.

There are lots of reasons why your shoulder could be hurting. My son went to several doctors with his shoulder. One doctor finally gave him a blood test. Strangely, he learnt it was caused by GAD ( general anxiety disorder). Who would have ever thought? He feels much better now. Your best bet is to see a doctor. Hope you feel better soon!!!!!

If you are a big person, or sleep on your side normally, you could be stretching the ligaments or tendons in the shoulder.. try sleeping on your back if you can for a while..or you may have damaged your rotator cuff.

Maybe you're using the mouse at a weird angle? If so, try switching which hand you use for the mouse by moving it to the other side of the keyboard, and finding a more comfortable position for your arm.
