Puppies hump things - FACT. lol, it could just be an attention thing, he needs lots of attention, being a puppy and all. He's also showing everyone that this is HIS territory. If he isn't neutered and you don't plan to breed him, then ask your vet about the procedure, as this should help knock the edge off his little hormones. You should also discipline him when he starts 'humping' things, push him gently but firmly out of the way and tell him 'thats bad' in a firm voice. With persistence this should work, and if he decides not to listen you put him in another room by himself. Persevere with him and good luck.

LOL, let me tell you about my Max, he used to hump everything in site, I started to teach him somethings just to take his mine off of things, well you know what he did one day? I kind of saw him suspicious because he would look at me and hide, so I followed and the little boy had a towel he had found and had it in the patio all rolled up and he was humping it. So you see, even if you fix him he will keep doing it. It's nature calling.

Even after you get your dog neutered, there is no reason he will stop humping.

Most dogs hump other dogs as a show of dominance. At my local dog run, males hump males, females hump males, anything goes!

For now, when you seem him do this, immediately distract him from what he is doing and yell "NO" in a loud voice. It will hopefully subside a bit when you get him neutered, but dogs are dogs and this will probably never go away totally!

Yea fixed is the best bet unless you plan you plan on the breeding him..Humping is also a sign of dominance...I don't know if you have ever seen a male dog mount another male? It's the dog on tops way of asserting dominace over the other dog..

And your **poor** kitty!!! LOL!

Same reason teenage boys feel the urge to hump everything they see. Hormones and instinct. It will go away with time if he is fixed.

my dog is fixed and it still humps things. but any way, just get it a stuffed animal to hump. he will grow out of it. and if he doesnt train him to do it on command. its a great party trick

Please....just get him neutered! It will do wonders for this problem. Also he needs exercise! Alot of puppys will do that out of boredom. Play ball with him..Take him on a walk, or a run!

There probably really is'nt a good answer. My dog is also fixed and he gets him some anyway. Just train on command.

this is natural and is likely dominance posturing. Getting him fixed may help, but it's not a guaranteed solution.
