Bible thumping Christians suggest that I will become evil if I don't believe in God.
Yet after 50 years of not believing, I don't want to kill, or steal, and I don't lie nearly as much as most Bible quoters.
After reading the Bible in it's entirety,I decided it was a childish book for frightened, greedy people to hide behind.
People who have a great fear of death, and are greedy for a new life in "heaven", ( a place in their imagenation).

AUSTYNN---I thought he died for our sins.
What an ignorant notion, to murder your son to appease yourself.

SHANA---If your choices are made under duress, then you don't have FREE will,--you only have will.
Even you would not have to threaten others w/ death, or promise them eternal life to make them believe you if you were telling the truth about something.

You have just proven how dishonest many Christians are.---You don't have even one sin?
Even Man wouldn't send you to your death for one sin.
Your god seems more evil than Man.

If I love someone , I must see them or know where they are . It's a childish notion that a god needs to hide from everybody, and please don't tell me that only good christians can see him.

After reading your answer, I'm convinced that you have never read the entire Bible: only bits and peices of,mainly, the New Testament, (like most Christians).

Congratulations, I knew you could do it! I wish I had realized it myself sooner. Actually, it was a Bible verse that I read and made me open my eyes to common sense and reality. I guess you could say that this verse "backfired" from it's intended purpose.
- - 1 Cor. 13: 11 "When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things."
I do believe that there is wisdom to be found in the Bible, but as a guide to salvation from hellfires and the only key to heaven, it seems pretty foolish. I feel more peace of mind now accepting complete responsibility for my life without the constant feelings of inadequacy and guilt that came from a philosophy that told me that I was evil, incapable of anything but sin and deserved hell unless I accepted a religion that offended my common sense about the universe.
Christians, I'm sorry that you can't comprehend this. Please don't pity my "blindness" or fret over my soul.

As this seems to be less of a question, and more of an invitation for responses, I will treat it as such... :-)
Welcome to the Real World.
I like to think that I honor christianity just as I honor any religion when it is life-affirming, comfort-giving, and a positive influence on a person. They are all mythologies which are created to answer life's Big Questions. I honestly think that they all have parts of the Answer.... just not all of the Answer.
Anyone who thinks that their religion has All of the Answer obviously has no idea of just how big the Picture is...
Although I can appreciate the frustration behind bashing a religion, I hesitate because I realize they believe in their mythology just as passionately as I believe in mine. To me, it is not enough to bash them for bashing sake (I am as guilty of this as any) and start using the language of what they really are: a mythology. When you speak of the concept of a deity, say which deity... the Christian god, the Hindu god(s), the Pagan god(s)... just one small step toward breaking the assumption of christianity as 'higher' or 'better' than any other mythology.
Change the language and you change how people think about it. If a degree in Medieval History has taught me anything, it's that you put a different name on it and in a generation it was always that way...

It was wrong for someone to tell you that you'll "become" evil. Sin is in every one of us whether we like to admit it or not. It's called imperfection.
As far as having faith in the Bible, no one can force it upon anyone. It's like love. You can't force someone to love another person....right? And you can't believe in love unless you develop it for someone or something. It's the same thing.
I guess we're a product of our environment. I love God and his Word. But it states that I can't judge anyone....I don't judge you but I'm sorry someone out of ignorance said such evil things to you.
I know a lot of scientists who don't believe in God or the Bible. Yet they've done great things for the world. They're not evil people.

I don't think you are evil just because you don't believe in God. It is just what you think. Just because you think differently about the bible than other people doesn't make you evil.

Heaven and Hell are real. Please reconsider before it is eternally to late.
Ephesians 2:5 - Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
"damned" was found 3 times in 3 verses in the New Testament.
Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Romans 14:23 - And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
2 Thessalonians 2:12 - That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

You have made your choice. You will reap what you sow. I hope you never regret your choice. Free will is given to us at birth by God. It is our choice if we live for our own free will or we give the free will back to God in exchange for living Gods way. You should reread what you wrote above under your question. Sounds as though you have hate for Christians which is a reflection of hating God.
