That the devil knows the Bible, and could probably quote more scriptures than you and I put together? I was asking because this was something they used to tell us when we were younger in Sunday School at my church. I guess they were trying to just let us know that everything that looks good, isn't. Is this where the whole false prophet situation comes into play and could it perhaps be a reason why people are easily susceptible to the false prophets; because they know the Bible? If that's the case how do you distinguish between whose real and who is coming for causes other than those of God? Thanks for the answers.

Yes, you're absolutely right. He's a veeeery deceptive and sneaky character! It can be hard to tell, but if you know God and HIS character, and have discernment at least to some extent, you'll just be able to tell and know what is of God and what isn't. Since He lives in you, you'll get some kind of thought or feeling that maybe this just isn't right? And then you can even pray about it. Pray about discernment too, it's a very good thing to have when sneaky false people cross your path.

John 13:34 -"I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves." If anything you are asked to do goes against this commandment, then it's wrong, they're wrong. Of course Satan knows the scriptures. If he's been around long enough to mess with Adam and Eve, then he's got a lot more tricks up his sleave. If anyone comes saying they are God's prophet, then you need to see it based on their actions. Matthew 7:15 says you will recognize them by their fruit. Look up Galations 5:22 for the fruitage of the spirit. If they ask anything of anybody that doesn't show love for others in the same religion, then it can't be the right one.
AlsoSomeone else had a comment on knowing God - that's very good. Reading the scriptures and coming to know God and how he would feel about certain situations and people would definitely give you a heads up.

To answer your question using all the scriptures will be almost impossibe, But I will try to bring to you what the bible is talking about, To a certain point yes the devil knows the scriptures, when Jesus was tempted by satan did not satan use scriptures to tempt Jesus, Yes, But Jesus also used scriptures to rebuke satan, therefore we can say that satan knows the scriptures, but he can only go so far with it, & then the scriptures themselves will out do him, as far as fale prophets, Yes that is true also, the bible says many false prophets will rise & they will rise in the name of Christiananity, how to tell them from the true ones, you will try them by the word, If a person claims to be a prophet, Then the bible says the spirit of a prophet is subject unto a prophet, in other words, they will not deny any part of the bible, How can the soirit of God deny himself. The Bible also tells us to try the spirits to see if they be of God. Now another thing, about satan knowing the scriptures, he can quote us scriptures up to a certain point & then the scriptures over rides his talking, that is how we rebuke satan is with scriptures, But now there is things that went on that is not even recored in our Bible, That was to be sealed up until the end time. We can study Daniel & Revelation, we see prophecies that was not even written, You may ask how will we know, They were sealed up until the end, & God will have a people down here on this earth that God will reveal to his BRIDE Only, It is Daniel & Revelations, Did not John see things like the 7 thunders, & he was about to write & God said John seal up those things that the 7 thunders said, Rev.10:4 & also Daniel 12:1-4 This is for the BRIDE only & not the religious world, They have been sealed up until the endtime.

Yes, it's true. The Scripture says, "The devils believe and tremble." They know the Word inside and out yet tremble out of fear for their end, eternity in Hell! As far as distinguishing between false prophets and true prophets because of the level of common knowledge that's out there for people to use concerning Bible interpretation and prophecy, the Scripture says to "try the SPIRITS and see whether they be of God." Meaning that we are to seek God's face when we have questions and not take all Scriptural quotes at face value. The Apostle Paul even had to write to one of the churches he set up during his ministry to let them know about a false letter or doctrine that he'd supposedly authored saying that the end of time had already occurred and that they were "left behind." Therefore, he had to remind them of the Word's teaching and set up a system in which they'd know that communications coming from him were actually from him and not forged as well as the letter bearing his signature was not being forged either!

You are correct...the best con men are the ones who know the most about the subject..... as to spotting the "false prophet" that is why those of The True Christian Faith follow the instruction to study for ourselves... The relationship between God and his people is one-on-one and personal. For those who have come to God in The Way He proscribes and received His free gift of Salvation there is no need of a "middle man" or any kind of prophet to control any doctrinal observance. Those of The Faith are instructed to fellowship togeather. And most do inorder to share our study and assist each other in our spiritual growth... but not to be "led" or "controled" by some "leader"... if someone is trying to be "the boss" then it is most likely not any direction from God but from the ego of the wana-be leader.

I accept email questions concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith. 1 honest question receives 1 honest answer.

yes the devil does know the bible and could probably quote more scriptures than you and me could. not every that looks good is bad, tho. God looks good and he's good. yes this is one of the reasons that so many false prophets got attention. you ask them certain questions that only God would really answer. besides, the biggest false prophet will be the anti-christ. remember when the anti-christ comes, he's one with the beast. Fantastic question! I have often wondered this myself. I over the years have come to the conclusion that if we are as close to God and our religion as we can possibly (Personaly) be than we will recognize the evil when it appears. This is the problem that I have with the second coming of Christ. I hope that I will be able to tell the difference betweeb the anti and the real deal.
I honestly believe that I will be able to, but there is a little doubt.

The Believer needs to know the Bible and then he can discern who is a false prophet and who isn't.
Satan is described as "the evil deceiver", "the great liar", etc. etc..
