If your loans only add up to 5500 dollars just pay them off.

If the Air Force pays them off you won't be eligible for the GI Bill, which is like 50 thousand dollars more if you want to go to school later.

i suggest you confront a recruiter for those details...things like this change all the time. if you went to college for 4 years, you can join the air force as an officer and you don't have to worry about that enlisted crap

All branches will pay off your student loans. They have to be federally ensured loans, and it counts as taxable income, so your taxes will suck the first year. If you take advantage of that, you will not be eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill.

why don't you talk to a recruiter? It seems they would be the logical choice to answer this question. Your bigger worry will be if you can pass the ASVAB for the Air Force.

Ask the base education officer.

well, you would have to enlist, and have that a part of your contract.
