How do they make recycled toilet paper sanitary to use without using bleach? Should I be afraid to use the stuff? How sanitary is it?

I don't mean recycled from old toilet paper. I mean how sanitary is using paper on your privates from paper that used to be newspaper.

Maybe guys don't have this problem. But I personally wouldn't want to use old newspaper on myself. Where does the paper come from, how do they collect post consumer paper, how do they sanitize it?

Recycled toilet paper probably started life as some other paper product.

Recycled paper is sent thru a shredder then put into a processor where various chemicals are added. The batch is brought to a boil and then strained to rid of liquids, it is rung out on rollers and then turned into various products. I would imagine that just about any of the chemical or boiling steps destroys most of the bacteria found on recycled paper but I wouldn't worry about those bacteria to much, they are almost all plant, soil and animal bacteria that are not harmful to humans. Also the human rectal area is allocated with special skin that is especially resistant to bacteria and as for the pubic area well there are specific bacteria present whose job it is to keep other bacteria from colonizing. Basically they do this buy creating a unique ph and nutrient base that acts to inhibit any possible pathogens. There are no guarantee's in life but with little to no moisture, food or warmth for the bacteria which may cling to the toilet paper they wouldn,t be in sufficient numbers to bother you anyhow.

Toilet paper can be made from recycled paper, but it is not toilet paper to start. White paper and office paper can be made into toilet paper. Toilet paper is biodegradeable and is made to just melt into the environment. You can get recycled paper that is not bleached, it is light brown, but not dirty. Toilet paper for sale is sanitary and is not made from old toilet paper. It is interestg to note however that there are tiny cellulose fibers now found in the Gulf Stream that are from toilet paper flushed.

Recycled paper IS bleached before it is made into new paper, unless it is going to be used for corrugated cardboard boxes. However, how could toilet paper be recycled? It gets flushed down the drain. Toilet paper can be made from recycled paper, but not from recycled toilet paper.

Toilet paper is not being recycled. It deteriotes along with the rest of the waste to sludge in the sewage pond. The liquid there is recycled.
Toilet paper is made up of other paper and materials that are recycled. It may be bleached to whiten it, but I am lost on what you are afraid of.

No worries. I agree with above. It's not toilet paper that they make i from, they make it from like old newspaper etc... otherwise they'd have to fish soggy paper from the sewer and of corse they would never do that.
