HI New York is very impressive, now that a lot of money has been spent on it. Hotel Bakpak in Melbourne has really good facilities. Flying Pig in Amsterdam is easy to get to. The Creek and the Clay in Miami have superb locations. Cape Town Ashanti Lodge has the best setting, with lovely views of the Table Mountain.

I do not stay in hostels. I'd never lower myself to sleep at one of those fleapits.
Give me a good quality hotel any day.
