Have you really met a hindu who worships penis and vagina?
This is a mis-propaganda by missionaries.
Shiva-linga is worshipped by hindus.. but here linga means..God without Form...not penis.
hindus philosophy is really great..try to understand it..not be moved by Propaganda

If obscenity is to be seen then one can quote many things like virgin Mary having a son.
Linga or lingam as it is called is the symbol of Static energy and
Yoni of female represents the dynamic or creative energy. but creation cannot come about without linga penetrating the yoni. There is no dynamic power without the static energy . It can also be said that th a static energy gets converted to dynamic energy and activates the creation.
The unity is called Shiva shakti ikya. Shiva when combines with shakti iscreator and alone is the destroyer. he is the symbol of death also. Shiva is the reminder to humanity that death is certain to come so don't remain indulged in the worldly pleasures a day of rekoning is sure to come be prepared for it.
The name of shiva is "Mahakal" which means super death
people prostrate to the maha kal when they pay obesence to the linga. There is no thought of sex in his presence.

Shiva linga doesnot mean sexual organ . The real meaning of linga is LIYANTHE YATRA GAMYANTHE where everything merges into one is the real meaning . Now another concept the upper part is taken as the organ of man the lower of a woman . It shows that the universe is in perfect bliss when the male and female entities unite. It is like ying and yang of zen philosophy. Shiva is given the form of linga because he has given his half to his wife . The people might have thought it is better to worship him as a symbol because their goal was formlessness of the almighty the shape is very easy to meditate upon.

Nah, I don't find it any weirder than worshipping Yahweh.
At least male and female 'naughty bits' actually contribute to life here in this world.
