People applaud when women go to female doctors. Why am I called sexist if I prefer to go to a male doctor?

You are actually called a sexist for going to a male doctor? That's kind of odd! And I didn't realize that people applauded when women go to female doctors. Really, either way it shouldn't be made a big deal of. People should go to whatever physician they feel comfortable with and feel is competent. There is actually somewhat of a problem developing because so many women prefer to go to female ob/gyns putting the males out of business or quashing their dreams before they even get that chance (and of course, I'm guilty of that, I've always gone to a woman).

I dont think that makes you sexist, in fact I dont blame you at all. Its normal to be more comforatable with someone of the same sex as your doctor, it makes it easier to talk to them and be examined by them. Some people might think you are supposed to be an equal opportunity patient or something, lol, but for something as personal as a doctor, of course you can have a preference! (Now if you will only go to a male cashier at the store or bartender or something that doesnt matter, that might be where it gets a little weird, lol.)

I've never been applauded for going to a female doctor, or heard anyone else applauding a woman for going to a female doctor. I suspect you are being called sexist because this is an issue for you when it isn't for anyone else.

your not sexist! Its what YOUR comfortable with. Im a female and prefer male doctors even my gyno is a male. I feel more comfaortable and its not a sexual thing thats just how i am and there is nothing wrong with it. My Best Friend refuses to see a male doc for anything she is not comfortable she always goes to females and my fiance doesnt have a preference except when it comes to his physical exams then he prefers male! there is nothing wrong with you. And im a complete feminist too so this means alot coming form me :)

Who applauds when a woman goes to a female Dr? You have to get out more. Stop worrying about stupid things like this. By the way.. when was the last time you let your Dr stick his finger up your jaxie to give you a prostate exam..when you do this, I will personally applaud you.

it depends on the reason why you prefer to go to a male doctor.

1) you would prefer a male ear man-to-man sorta thing. wich i suspect it is.

or

2) you don't feel a woman doctotr can't do as good job

it's pretty stupid of people to draw up conclusions like that though.

but if its a lady doctor something macho kicks in and I'll say "No I'm cool"!

**** WHAT PEOPLE SAY. ALL THAT MATTERS IS WHAT MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE. I'M A FEMALE AND I HAVE A MALE DOCTOR AND ACTUALLY PREFER MALE DOCTORS FOR SOME REASON. THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME ANTI-FEMALE.
