HDTV compatible means that your screen is capable of displaying picture in resolutions of 720p, 1080i or 1080p. This does not mean that your TV has an HDTV tuner or receiver, but that it accepts signals at HDTV standards.

it means it has the abilty to display the hd signal but you need an external source to receive the signal cable or satlite or terresteral box to get the HD SIGNAL
