If you're like me, you're the product of many games of tag, dodgeball, kick the can, freeze tag, cartoon tag, red rover, and leap frog, just to name a few. I had my share of bruises & skinned knees, but is it really as dangerous as they are saying? My opinon is that it's not unsafe and that this is another attempt to stifle kids social skills instead of enhancing them. Happy Friday!

I have to agree with you. I can attest that sometimes we got out of control with the game but it was all in fun and no one got seriously hurt. Even if someone got hurt not like it hadn't happened before. The children's games we played were vital for development of our social skills, as well as physical fitness. Have they replaced these games with any others? Or are their children now just standing on the fields with nothing to do, increasing the risks of getting into other sorts of trouble? When they start to notice a further increase in obesity rates I'm sure they'll have their answers. Also they mentioned unsupervised games of tag...well easy solution...supervise them, or can they not stand outside in the weather they make them go out in sometimes? What are they doing on the fields if they are supposed to be supervising? what about parent volunteers? or community helpers to supervise? There is always a better action than banning right from the beginning.

I completely agree, and think that is ridiculous. I play tag almost every single day, and, although I might suffer some lacerations/abrasions/bruises, that's part of life. If one person falls, must the rest fall too? If society would just THINK about their actions, they would see how utterly inane and illogical this decision is. Erm...happy Friday to you, too.

keeping kids from playing tag is almost impossible.... it is like a natural response to run from eachother and chase eachother.... it is like asking puppies not to bite each other.
