Well timing has ALOT to do with your question. From my experience, I would say that you should focus all of your attrention to your career when your in your twenties. You can invest your time into your personal and professional development.
I'm assuming your not maried. I am and have kids and I can't begin to tell you how much time, effort and money it takes to run a family. So acheive what you can professionally now and wait for love later.
Love is always going to be around, but your career may not. There is so much competition in this world and only the best, smartest and available people make it to the top and make good money.
Like I said, love will be there when you have reach your prefessional goals. Maybe you should set some long term goals and when you reach them, then you can start to invest in a relationship.
Be strong, stay focused and disciplined.
One last thing...You have got to have a few women around for some booty calls here are there. Nothing serious, just for good times. Just don't lead anyone on or yourself. Make it clear that it's just a friends with benifits relationship.

If I were single without children, then of course my career would be of the highest importance. But because I am a mother and a wife, I have to put the love for my family first. I have went to school and earned a degree, but because the jobs that pertain to my degree want me to work long hours with hardly any time off to spend with my family, I will continue to do what I'm doing (business office clerk) until my children are old enough.

Well you know I have to make a buck to pay the bills. But in real honesty I definitely give more importance to love. I'm in love right now and I have a great career and I would never ever want to be forced to choose. But right now I do the 9-5 and go home and have fun, fun, fun, fun! 1 more fun!

Career because that makes you. If don't have a proper career even a woman who you have a relationship with might leave you.
Love can come anytime, in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s but a career has to be made in a certain time.

i used to place emphasis on love and preparing for my career but I would chose love over my education and I wasted about a good 5-8 years of my life cuz first I was too young and then I was not prepared for the challenges of a serious relationship or met mr. wrong period, I learned I had to live for myself before I could think of living with or for someone else, if love is meant to be it will happen regardless it depends on you and where you are in life. Everything you go through in life prepares you for the real deal and gives you an advantage in life later on (if you learn from your mistakes) right now career is more important because the financial challenges in this world these days make it impossible to concentrate on much else

love by far!!! yea, career is important, but it'll never satisfy u. work is usually all about money to have a comfortable way of living...but when u work sooo hard just trying to keep what u have... u don't even have time to enjoy the things u have. work is made to be a way to help u live... not ur way of living.

For ultimate result carreer and love can not be kept separately. How come a carrier flourish without inspiration of love and then sacrifice of love. Biggest achievers have been the best lovers. Thinkers of career and love are those who are willing to sacrifice some thing to achieve great goal. They require higher degree of discipline, courage and patience.

The most incredible career accomplishments of man eventually mean nothing. Does anyone remember who designed the pyramids? You can spend your life pursuing lofty goals and you will still die in a handful of years and whatever you accomplished will turn to dust in the end. But love lives on forever.
When you're lying on your death bed, you will not regret that one big deal you didn't close. But if you are lucky, you will look forward to spending eternity with that one special soul you shared your life with.
