I highly recommend the product Nature's Miracle. It's an enzymatic stain remover which breaks down and consumes the bacteria that causes pet odors. Because it breaks down the bacteria it removes the hidden scents that encourage marking and continued urination/defecation in that same spot. So far this has been the only product that has worked consistently for me on all types of pet stains (urine, feces and vomit) and on a variety of fabrics and surfaces.

You can pick it up at basically any pet specialty shop, or order online.

rent a carpet shampooer then clean the carpet with pet oder elimilater then after you got the whole carpet cleaned. And you cat pottys on the carpet again then you should use vinigar/urin-off like the other people has said. you just need to do a pre-clean first so that you start off with a freash clean carpet. This is so that you dont miss no feces cat poop is really bad for you and it is really bad for babys and children!

You'll need an enzymatic cleaner to break down the smell. You can find it in most pet supply stores, as well as places like Wal-Mart. Check the label to make sure it specifically mentions cat odors or pet urine. Blot up what you can with a dry towel, then follow the directions on the bottle.

The absolute best way to get odor out of the carpet is to get a commercial enzyme product, follow the directions for diluting it and spray it several times, soaking through to the underpad is necessary. The enzymes will actuall "eat" the odor and remove it permanently. If you are using scented kitty litter, try changing to unscented as this may be what's causing her to look elsewhere. Good luck!

Clean it with a damp mop, in hot water and vinegar solution. Make sure it dries completely. If the cat does it again, clean it the same way, but this thins sprinkle black pepper on the spot. Then when she comes back smelling around, she will find that spot to be unfavorable.

I use the same stuff as Collen, works great.
I found some cats don't like the closed covered litter box.
You need to clean them everyday to keep the cat happy.

It's expensive but the only thing that I have found that gets rid of the smell completely (both urine and feces) is Urine-Off. You can buy it at www.urine-off.com.
