We smile and pay a lot of attention to eachother when we are around together and have talked a few times.. I've emailed her a few times with just a small msg of niceties here and there, and she has emailed me back.
BUT, how can I tell if she is actually interested?

She's interested. Otherwise she wouldn't respond to your emails and she wouldn't be having pleasant conversations with you. I think you should ask her out. Sounds to me that she's feeling you.

If she digs you? Hey the 70's just called. They want their phrases back.

What do her emails say? Do they give you any indication that she "digs" you?

Find out what her fave color is then buy her something of that color or buy a carnation and have it "dipped" in her favorite color. Leave it on her desk or at her workstation with a note saying something like:

"I wonder if our friendship could evolve into something else. meet me at such and such a place for dinner on whatever night you choose. If she shows up, then she "digs" you. If she doesn't then she only wants to be friend.

Or just ask her if she would like to go out to dinner. My previous idea is a bit more romantic though and may pique her curiosity.

I don't get it. Why are guys so insecure that they can't just walk up, ask the girl if she wants to go out sometime and deal with the answer either way. Man, the one thing you don't understand, is most single women are desperate. Even the hot ones. They can't wait for someone to approach them. Now go get her tiger. And to the person who said don't date the women you work with. That is a bunch of crap. I have scored with lots of women I work with, and if it doesn't work out, I just go back to being their coworker and treat them with the same respect I treat everyone else and it is not a problem.

She might be attached and is being nice..
You need to find that out first ,before you proceed ..
Talk to people at work and find out if she is available........
Then, ask her out for coffee.
Then you can chat and find out how she is feeling towards you.
Then ask her out...

if you keep flirting with her and she keeps flirting back, if she gives you subtle hints here and there that she might be interested...... if she is standoffish then you know for sure that she is not really into you but if she welcomes your flirtations then it might mean she is somewhat interested........ ask her out to lunch sometime and see how she reacts? you never know!
