In my life I have seen and experienced things, that were so unfair and cruel that made me completelly reject the notion that a caring supreme being is watching over us. And these bad things happened to people who went to church and sincerely believed.

I don't doubt the existance of God as a higher force of the universe, something like a ballancing factor, but God with a human face is something I can never believe in, not like I could when I was a child.
sad.

I also came to that conclusion a long time ago.

I think atheism is pretty much "If there really is a God, then show me". Religon itself is just a manifestation on fears people have of death and their need to think there has to be a purpose for life - like if you are good then there is an afterlife that is perfect. Nothing is perfect.

I've been where you are. Depression can keep you seeing nothing but the bad and scary things in life. It is not as easy as it sounds to keep grasp on Jesus' love.

It works like this: You believe in him as the creator of the universe as part of the God-Trinity and ask Him to come into your heart and guide your steps. After that you become indwelled with the Holy Spirit and His love radiates to others, keeping the spirit alive within you. You also start to see evil for what it really is.

Edit: Your focus also becomes eternal, not for the things of this world that you now know. Then you will hunger for more wisdom and seek it out - The Holy Bible.

I know I'll be getting thumbs down for this answer, but SO WHAT!

First off why are you blaming God for the evil in the world. He made the world without evil. He did not intend for any of the bad things that happen in the world or to people. Satan was an angel who had fallen. He rebelled against God. He was jealous of God and he wanted Gods power. He wanted to destroy Gods people and all of Gods creations. He caused sin. Satan causes pain and suffering. Second of all, going to church does not make you a Christian. If you think that then go sit in your garage and see if it makes you a car. Jesus does love you, even though you doubt him, blasphemy him and so on. He loves everyone unconditionally...no matter how bad you act! Why don't you try to mature in the spirit and intellect and discover all the good waiting for you! Search for God with all your heart, mind, body, soul and strength and you will find him. Satan wants you to hate God, he already has your thoughts and mind twisted so you are putty in the devils hands.

You are right in a sense, however, I do not let my life be controlled by others or things that happens around me. I am totally responsible for anything that I allow or disallow in my life. Neither do I blame anyone nor anything for my misfortune or fortune. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is an Almighty God and I try my best to live my life on pleasing Him instead of blaming.

God does things for a reason honey. You said that bad things happened to people who went to church and sincerely believed, if you're talking about dying then they are in a much better place with him. If you don't believe in God, please do, because Jesus is coming back for his people who love him. God will not put much on you then you can bear. The bible says that the Rigteous have I not seen forsken. Have you noticed all of these bad things happenig now, if you read in Revelation the same things that are in the bible are happening now, so if you don't believe in him please accept him in your heart now and he will save you and I promise you will not be the same. Jesus really does love you!!! I Will pray for you that God opens your mind to see that he really does care for you. One time in my life I was just like you and I thought why would God let someone die, but you know what he let that person die for a reason, because he wants them to be with him in a better place.I'am 18 years old and I love God. Please surrender to him.

If you were to think that since GOD exists we would not have any problems, then you are terribly mistaken. It is satan's lie to you. Bible the written WORD of GOD clearly states that "In this world you will have troubles, but fear not, I (Jesus) have overcome the world". Even I was thinking that if GOD was with me, then I would not have any trouble. But look at the life of Joseph, Abraham, David, Jesus. All the people mentioned in the word of GOD (Bible) had some problems. So I think it would be wise to ask for GOD's help in time of trouble.

God Bless.
Edwin.

Think about the next thing you look at. You wouldn't be able to see it without the power of sight God gave you. The next breath you take, just think where it comes from. God, pure and simple. In fact God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit communicate with us in some way every single moment of everyday. God bless, and I am sure he has and will continue.

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Do you have food to eat? Clothes to wear? That is Jesus being good to you. Do you have someone who loves you? Did the sun rise on you this morning? That is Jesus being good to you. Did rain fall this week so you would have water to drink? That is Jesus being good to you. Did you pass by pretty flowers at any time recently? Those flowers are Jesus being good to you. Is the sky blue with pretty clouds? That is Jesus being good to you.

We all have bad things happen to us. Life is not fair. Get used to it. But God has provided for you. You are just overlooking his love.

Tough question based on our idea of love and what we know. I became a christian 19 years ago and my life went from bad to worse in alot of ways - I could tell you stories.... BUT inside something solid and real grew. God doesn't own this world Satan does according to Bible doctrine. So in it we will go thru "hell" - attacks, testing, trials if we're God's. Kind of like being in the middle of a war. I could choose to live for myself and go with the flow, but God's love is to rescue the helpless and stand up for injustice and feed the poor. How can I relate to them if I have never been helpless, victimized or poor? My struggles have enabled to me to have compassion on others - thats love. We sacrifice our lives for someone else just like Jesus sacrificed his life for us.
