the only thing that keeps you from having sex is religion. I am as stark a virgin as possible in this day and age but it is no federal crime if you decide to give it up. the most important principles here are that you you have yourself in check and that you never did it under duress. hey, i am jus rambling.... what do you guys think?

You are right it is a matter of religious belief 95% of the time when you feel guilty about having sex, but I have learned as I lived life it is also a matter of self - respect, everyone I know that slept around freely now regrets it, whether it is having a bad name ,disease, or just a bad feeling of self-worth, I have had relationships and I find it better to have a monogamous relationship if you do have sex sometimes life happens and you break up but I find another monogamous relationship which is why you should use protection when you are in a relationship you never know how long its going to last, But I think it is more special to wait until marriage I haven't personally exercised that but I wish I had of. But after years of sleeping around it affects the mind, body, and spirit because of all the different personalities you have come in contact with, Just sleep with the speacil one is my advice

Yes, your right, religion IS the basis for being a virgin, but as a parent, you don't want to see your girls hurt or do something they will regret later. But the biggest thing is, if your a virgin, you cant be pregnant, and no matter how much you love a baby or how responsible you are, you can't have a child until you have a stable income or your life will be as hard as it can be from there on out. If you can wait until you have a stable relationship with someone that can help you, financially AND physically then you can have children. That's the biggest thing with virtue in these days. We realize that most are going to have sex...it's hard not to, (no pun intended) but if you do...please use protection against disease and pregnancy.

I don't think that is the only point people are trying to make.
I think that alot of young girls just give it up, without thinking, to anybody, way too young...
They don't realize that it is linked to self-esteem and self preservation.
What I read on this site amazes me at times... how little thought they give to puttin out.. it seems like they have no self respect and are so immature .. Most of them are not ready for all that sex entails. The kids in this era grow up too fast, have too much pressure put on them to have sex.. it is definitely a moral issue... It is frightening.
I think that is why I think they talk about virtues...
Some things are just wrong for kids who are too young and naive.... Plain and simple.
We have become an amoral society and it is scary....

Virtue is not a question of morality it is a question of integrity. We are spiritual beings on a human journey and sexuality is part of the whole picture. Be true to yourself and your friends and your "virtue" will be in tact. No lies, no deceit, don't be an emotional vampire. Sex does not make a person immoral it is their conduct before, during and after that will keep your virtue in tact or make it disappear.

I believe very strongly that social stigmas, genderific double-specifications, and lack of information all propogate anti-intercourse mentalities. When it comes right down to it, all their important 'advantage' is, is a skinny strip of flesh, uncared for penis, and years of sexual ineptitude, trepidation, and frustration. I'm no longer 'virtuous' by means of mainly anybody's specifications, however I'm cozy with my frame, with intercourse, and I know the way to loosen up my frame in non-sexual approaches that I shouldn't have stumbled upon if I were not so sexually cozy exploring myself and others.

As far as I've seen, hardly anyone here is concerned about purity. Either way, you're right — virginity isn't important anymore.
