Well, my friend, that's the big mistake my fellow Christians make. But face it, you'll run into that kind of person no matter where you go, not just Christians. People who want to share their joys or concerns or fears or unhappiness. Ever talk to someone who's convinced that the ice caps are gonna melt and we're all gonna die? Bor-ing. How about somebody who just bought a new car or just got married, or just came back from Timbuktu and shoves a fistful of pictures under your nose. How about a gay telling you all about how he wants to marry his gay buddy and the Republicans won't let him. Bor-ing squared and cubed. You've probably caught yourself rambling about your very favorite subject that nobody, but nobody wants to hear about. I could give a flying crap about the latest role player game and what level you're at. Who cares about that sort of thing but another player? But hey, if I may be serious for a moment, the proper way to present any of the above subjects, including Christianity, is to simply state a fact. "Did you know that the ice caps are melting and it's all Bush's fault?" Then wait for a positive response. An expression of curiosity, If none is expressed, move on. But don't feel bad. Like I said, I'm a Christian, but once I had some Jehovah's Witnesses who kept coming to my door and bugging me and wouldn't leave me alone. Just being way too persistent. So one bright summer day, I say 'em coming up the walk in a little gaggle and I lost it. Totally. I am ashamed to say this, but I answered the door completely and totally naked. Never saw them again. Like I said, I'm deeply ashamed. Yes I am...

Here's an honest question, what is it about christianity that makes you think they would be more tolerant?
That said, I believe most christians are tolerant and understanding, at least the ones I know. You just don't interact as much with them. Just like most lawyers aren't ambulance chasers, but those are the ones you see on tv.
As an exercise, look at it from another perspective. Fundamentalist christians believe that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. Some believe they are doing you a favor by "ramming it down your throat." They are trying to save you. And others just believe they are better than you. There are some bad apples in every group.
Try not to get worked up about it. I don't like advertisers ramming their stuff down my throat, but I don't let it bother me.

As a Christian, I can say that anyone who is not tolerant of other beliefs (whether it is muslims, hindus, satanists and even atheists) and rams Christianity down your throat, can not be a Christian!
Depends, of course what you regard as "ramming". Unfortunately we cannot help testifying about our Lord and sometimes it is construed as offensive.
If you cannot see Christ in someone's actions and cannot hear Him in a person's talk, I am afraid that the person is not a Christian.
Thank you for asking this question, as it is clear from the reaction that so many people want to know about Jesus. Please feel free to IM or Email me if you or anyone reading this would like to talk about Christianity.
PS: I am not a preacher or a clergy, just someone who knows Jesus and His love.

It is not Christianity that is the problem, as Jesus, if he really existed, was a good man. The problem is the Christians, they have an attitude problem, they suffer from that better than everyone else mentality. The main problem with this being, they can not back up what there own Bible says in thier personal lives. A bunch of hypocrites in my opinion.

By God squad, I assume you mean the christians, however, I have never heard of the latter promulgate any of their beliefs forcefully to anyone. Even the Jehovah's Witness do not force anything down your throat. It is only you, the receipient of the message, who can decide whether to follow their teachings or not. If anyone has forced their Godly knowledge against your will, then you have every right of suing them.

Wow I so totally agree with you! I went to school, back in the day, with the biggest god squad ever. I they were always trying to get me to join them and go to this meeting and that meeting. They even came up to me and said "We heard you are a Witch and we will be praying for you." One even had the balls to tell me that I was going to tell hell if I didn't repent. I think to them it was such a power trip to be able to hold their "high and mighty" ways over everyone else. Like they were so much better because of what they believed. lol Makes me laugh now just like it did back then. To them its their drug of choice and like all good drug dealers they have to push it onto everyone else.
Although I know not all people are like that it really bugs me that some are.

Oh jane l i watched one of those videos and believe me it wasn't a "large" knife....
As for the question, Now tell me that force isn't the answer. We should make all of them wear those electrocuting dog collars, and press the button every time they say something stupid or preachy.
And while we're at it i'd like to start a national "slap a tourist" day if thats possible..

Unfortunately, it's the same with most religions .. they think their beliefs are the only true ones and everyone else has got it totally wrong. It's sad really. Would God want you to get into arguments over religion or be intolerant of others who do not share the same beliefs? I think not.

Because their Bronze Age scriptures don't teach them to respect the different beliefs of others. Their holy book tells them that those who don't believe as they do are to be shunned and that the Creator of the universe has such respect for freedom of religion that he has decreed that those who do not believe in him will suffer eternal punishment in Hell. Fortunately, many Christians think beyond the intolerant teachings of the Bible and accept that others have the same right to follow their own chosen traditions as they do. These are the Christians I respect.

Because Christians believe that people who do not believe Jesus was their saviour will go to Hell when they die. They believe it is a calling from God to convert as many people as possible, to 'save' them.
However, from personal experience I have found that a lot of so-called Christians just like to get hysterical and condemn people on the basis of religion.
