Although I use a LOT of what I learned in high school (math, algebra, social sciences, english grammar, etc) most of what I learned in high school that is so useful is a curiosity about the world, a drive to learn more, to be informed, involved and not to settle for less than I am capable of.

Grammar, spelling: You'll need it to properly fill out a job application or write a resume for an important position in a big company as well as how to communicate your thoughts to others.
Math is important because you do not want your accountants to embezzle your money.
High school is the first step to learning how to think in an organized and critical fashion.

What I learned was not so much the content areas (math, science....) but HOW to learn, and how to use higher level thinking skills. All through life you will need to use critical thinking skills and that is a big part of why we learn algebra, etc. We learn how to make ourselves think outside the box. Thinking about thinking, think about it!

It's not what you learned it is how you learned it. A good liberal education in which you applied yourself makes you a more creative person who will be more valuable in any career you choose.
